To whom it may concern:

Day 1: the planet earth is going through a strange phenomenon called Aphelion, it consists in the fact that in the middle of its orbital trajectory, the earth is at the farthest point from the sun and it will take 3 months giving this tour, so cold waves hit hard to earthlings.

Day 6: The cold is getting stronger every day. The worst thing is that we had to continue with our normal life. I mean classes, work, shopping, business, all the same. If we didn't stop the world completely with the last pandemic, we won't do it because of the cold.

Day 10: At the university I am in class and taking final exams. It's hard to concentrate in the cold, so my classmates came up with a formula to get us going.  We take espresso coffee and add 2 effervescent vitamin C pills, drink it and it's like activating the turbo button. I am now drinking this turbo coffee daily, not only for college, but also to get through the day.

Day 16: My parents ambushed me this morning when I came out of my room to get coffee in the kitchen. I had hidden the pills in my bra and they couldn't find them, but my dad said no more coffee for me from now on. I went crazy and felt short of breath. How am I going to endure the Aphelion phenomenon without my precious coffee?

I ran off to the university, almost freezing on the way. I arrived and in the corridors everyone looked dazed and had zombie faces. My parents were right, the turbo coffee was killing us.

Day 20: they never told us it would be like this. On January 20 they said it would be cold, but they never told us that by the end of February we would feel the ice freezing our brains. They suspended classes and now we are all stuck at home, it just started snowing in countries where the sun and warmth lasted all year long. 

With my parents guarding the coffee and my siblings watching over me, I don't know if I'm going to survive this. I honestly prefer the cold outside to spending another second in here. I must find a way to get revenge.

Day 25: My house has become a battlefield. It's them against me. This morning I went into the router and changed the password. Now no one has wifi but me. If they want to connect to the internet they will have to pay with coffee. 


Day 30: So far we've been at this for a month and I already feel like it's been forever. I don't know if I can stand 2 more months of this cold.

This time my father installed a camera in the kitchen and I had to pay my brother with one of the chocolates I hid in my drawer so he would unplug the computer and I could quickly go through the kitchen to steal the coffee.

My father said that living with me had become torture since the cold weather came into our lives.

Day 40: My parents called a truce. The truth is that we couldn't take it anymore. Ever since the day my father was taking a hot bath and I turned on the faucet to cool the shower water and he almost ended up in the hospital with hypothermia. I think I overreacted a bit. But I only wanted coffee, that precious dark liquid that gives me energy.

Now we get along well. I watch their every move and I think they watch mine. But as long as this weather holds, we will be rationed to 1 cup of coffee per day. 

Day 50: the cold seems endless. I don't know what will happen to us. Today I found my coffee cup frozen. It was almost tearful. I never imagined this could happen. I hope this natural phenomenon passes soon or we will all end up frozen like my coffee.

Day 60: It's been 2 long months and it doesn't seem to be getting any better I'm afraid we'll stay like this forever. 

Day 80: My hands are almost frozen, I can't even write. The temperatures are so low that the thermometers are frozen we don't know how low it is. We will not survive.

Day 90: To make coffee this morning my mother had to light a fire in the living room and burn our chairs to keep us warm. Thank goodness it's been 3 months.

Day 150: The cold continues. It hasn't stopped for so long. I was a skeptic and scoffed when they warned of the Aphelion phenomenon, but now I realize how serious it was. We no longer know if we will ever have the warmth of the sun again.

Day 200: to whom it may concern. The earth went out of orbit and now we are drifting, frozen and with no chance to feel the warmth of the sun again. Just as well and I saved enough coffee to keep me warm until I freeze to death.
