Last week I finished playing a game of which I had seen a couple of videos and I was quite interested in its curious mechanics, so I got it on Steam thanks to a friend and I was able to play it. The truth is that I didn't know much about what this game was about, I went with a pretty clear mind at the time of playing it. It wasn't such a WOW experience, but honestly it's a pretty fun game, with a curious humor and a pretty good way to cause you terror through breaking the fourth wall, which is the barrier that separates a story from the real world, resource which is not so often used in video games, although it is quite often seen in movies. > ##### [Game on Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/405640/Pony_Island)  > ##### [Source](https://www.wingamestore.com/product/5234/Pony-Island/) Pony Island is a game that falls into the category of "Psychological Horror", it delivers a bit of what it promises, although if you're looking to get scared with this game, you're not playing the right game. The game itself, uses the resource to provoke some fear with its setting and its constant kicks to the fourth wall. It is quite original in practically all of its mechanics, its story itself is not great but it continues to be entertaining throughout the game, and ends up being quite fun.   Pony Island is a fairly short, enjoyable game to play in an afternoon, and a lot of fun. It is based mostly on solving puzzles and playing Google's dinosaur game, only here it is a Pony that shoots lightning and has wings. The destruction of the fourth wall starts from the first moment, when they show you that you are practically playing a game within a game, and the game knows that you are playing it (It's a bit confusing but it goes like this).   Throughout the game things get murkier and murkier and the game gradually becomes more and more warped, hiding more and more secrets within the game, and practically changing every time it restarts itself throughout the story.  One of the moments that I find most original is the moment when you get to one of the last bosses of the game, and when facing him, he is constantly playing with you, showing you fake crashes and even Steam messages from one of your friends to distract you and make you lose, which seems to me a resource that if it gets to be used in a much more complex horror game, it can cause a quite interesting psychological horror experience, as is the case of Doki Doki Literature Club.   As I said before, it is a quite interesting game in terms of its concept, and its way of breaking the fourth wall to play with the player, and it becomes very original, but it is not a game so magnificent as to leave a great mark on the player. La verdad es que no terminaba de saber mucho sobre de qué iba este juego, fuí con la mente bastante clara al momento de jugarlo. El juego en sí, utiliza el recurso de provocarte algo de miedo con su ambientación y sus patadas constantes a la cuarta pared. Es bastante original en prácticamente todas sus mecánicas, su historia en sí no es la gran cosa pero continúa siendo entretenida a lo largo del juego, y termina siendo bastante divertida.   Pony Island es bastante corto, un juego disfrutable para pasártelo en una tarde, y muy divertido. Se basa más que nada en resolver Puzzles y jugar al juego del dinosaurio de Google, solo que aquí es un Pony que dispara rayos y tiene alas. La destrucción de la cuarta pared empieza desde el primer instante, cuando te muestran que prácticamente estás jugando un juego dentro de un juego, y el juego sabe que estás jugándolo (Es algo confuso pero va así).   A lo largo del juego las cosas se van poniendo cada vez más turbias y el juego poco a poco va deformándose cada vez más, ocultando cada vez más secretos dentro del mismo, y prácticamente cambiando cada vez que se reinicia a sí mismo a lo largo de la historia.  Uno de los momentos que me parecen más originales es el momento en el que llegas a uno de los últimos jefes del juego, y al enfrentarte a él, va jugando contigo constantemente, mostrándote falsos crasheos e incluso mensajes de Steam de alguno de tus amigos para que te distraigas y pierdas, lo cual me parece un recurso que si llega a ser utilizado en un juego de terror mucho más complejo, pues puede causar una experiencia de terror psicológico bastante interesante, como es el caso de Doki Doki Literature Club.   Como ya comenté antes, es un juego bastante interesante en cuanto a su concepto, y su forma de romper la cuarta pared para jugar con el jugador, y llega a ser muy original, pero no es un juego tan magnífico como para dejar una gran marca en el jugador. Fake crashes? Games are getting really interesting. This is the first time I've seen this, and the fact that Boss is doing this shows that the game is really trying to trick the user. And the short time it takes is an advantage. It's worth a try, man. Thanks for sharing.

Games are starting to use more and more these resources to jump the fourth wall, something similar is One Shot, which I did a post recently, and it takes this to another level having to use files inside the PC to solve certain puzzles and advance, the only difference is that Pony Island does it to try to scare you or make fun of you hahahaha

Este juego me lo recomendó un amigo hace mucho. 😂 es muy bueno. Recuerdo mi cara al ver la portada que se trataba de un Pony🤣. Tuve muchas carcajadas al ver la dinámica del juego. No me lo termine en 1 día porque desconocía cuanto duraría en pasarlo. Lo fui jugando con pausas. Es algo indie con rompecabezas y una historia bien divertida sobre una especie de "juego maldito". El final me gusto, me dio una sensación de que ya finalice con el juego y ya no tendría que jugarlo nunca más. Esa sensación es justamente la que busca, más porque literalmente al final te pide que lo desinstales jajajajaj Y si, es más o menos como doki doki literature club, termina siendo todo lo contrario a lo que piensas que es en un principio, y luego ya directamente no sabes ni qué está pasando
