Nuevamente deseo invitarles a participar en la iniciativa **Esa vida nuestra**, que llega a su tercera presentación;  esta vez con un nuevo tema,  que seguro les gustará,  porque tiene que ver con esas situaciones que nos podrían  robar la paz, sobre todo si no tenemos estrategias para enfrentarlas.   Espero puedan mostrar esas reflexiones, anécdotas o experiencias vividas, tal como lo han hecho,  siempre en aras de buscar nuestro propio equilibrio, ya que de lo que se trata es de estar bien.

El tema de esta semana lo he denominado: **Tú debieras, tú deberías o tú debiste**. Vamos a ver de qué se trata. 

En la convivencia diaria se nos presentan situaciones de todo tipo y suele ocurrir que alguien,  desde una posición de autoridad: decida imponernos sus normas o creencias con respecto a cualquier tema,  sin que le hayamos pedido el consejo o la orientación. 

Pueden ser parte de la familia: padres, hijos, pareja, hermanos, pero también: amigos, conocidos y hasta personeros de algún tipo de congregación política o religiosa. 

El punto es que de buenas a primeras insisten: «tú deberías cortarte el cabello», «tú deberías renunciar a ese empleo», «tú debieras hacer esto» y si la situación ya pasó: «tú debiste llamarme», dependiendo de la situación.


Para aclarar un poco, pero sin caer en disquisiciones gramaticales, existe una ligera diferencia entre «deberías» (condicional simple ) y «debieras» (imperfecto de subjuntivo).  El primero implica una especie de imposición, una orden;  el segundo,  puede pasar como una sugerencia, una invitación cordial para que el otro haga algo.  En la práctica se usa uno u otro y lo que establece la diferencia es la intensidad que se le ponga al tono y la reacción que produzca. 

En todo caso,  nosotros vamos a contextualizar y quedarnos, para nuestro ejercicio, en analizar aquellos casos donde se nos impone algo o si podemos hacer la «mea culpa» y darnos cuenta de si somos nosotros quienes mantenemos el dedo acusador e incluso cuando ya ha pasado la situación decir: «debiste hacer esto».

Recuerdo que cuando compramos casa, quienes nos visitaban  traían cada uno una recomendación, que iban  desde tumbar un pretil (que aún está en la cocina), cambiar el tipo de techo,  quitar o poner ventanas, de qué color pintar, y más, hasta que opté por recibir a todas las visitas en el porche.  Y qué decir de cuando fui madre la primera vez, todos traían su manual de crianza con los «deberías» incluidos. 

Entiendo bien que cuando pedimos la ayuda este tipo de recomendaciones son bienvenidas, pero si solo estamos inmersos en  una conversación, estas «sugerencias» pueden resultar incómodas vengan de donde vengan. ¿Te ocurre igual?

This week's theme was called: **You should, you should or you should**. Let's see what it is.

In daily coexistence we are presented with all kinds of situations and it often happens that someone, from a position of authority: decides to impose their rules or beliefs on us regarding any subject, without us having asked for their advice or guidance.

They can be part of the family: parents, children, partner, siblings, but also: friends, acquaintances and even representatives of some type of political or religious congregation.

The point is that all of a sudden they insist: "you should cut your hair", "you should quit that job", "you should do this" and if the situation is over: "you should have called me", depending on the situation .


To clarify a bit, but without falling into grammatical disquisitions, there is a slight difference between "should" (simple conditional) and "should" (imperfect subjunctive). The first implies a kind of imposition, an order; the second can pass as a suggestion, a cordial invitation for the other to do something. In practice, one or the other is used and what makes the difference is the intensity of the tone and the reaction it produces.

In any case, we are going to contextualize and remain, for our exercise, in analyzing those cases where something is imposed on us or if we can make the «mea culpa» and realize if we are the ones who maintain the accusing finger and even when it has already past the situation say, "You should have done this."

I remember that when we bought a house, those who visited us each brought a recommendation, which ranged from knocking down a parapet (which is still in the kitchen), changing the type of roof, removing or installing windows, what color to paint, and more, to that I chose to receive all visitors on the porch.
