Let is imagine that a new person comes to church and people who like to gossip began to speak evil of him. You don't know who He is; maybe He is Jesus who has come to fish out all the bad eggs in the church. He came to you and ask you about what was going on in the church and you open your mouth and speak evil of other members. Jesus would probably say that you are one of the people He has come to remove.
Genesis 18:16-22
>Then the men got up from their meal and looked out toward Sodom. As they left, Abraham went with them to send them on their way.
17 “Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked. 18 “For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him. 19 I have singled him out so that he will direct his sons and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.”
20 So the Lord told Abraham, “I have heard a great outcry from Sodom and Gomorrah, because their sin is so flagrant. 21 I am going down to see if their actions are as wicked as I have heard. If not, I want to know.”
22 The other men turned and headed toward Sodom, but the Lord remained with Abraham
Then the Lord said, ***"The outcry against sodom and gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that i will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know,"*** The men turned away and went towards sodom, but Abraham remained standing standing before the Lord. Jesus as the Lord went to sodom and Gomorrah on a fact-finding mission, He could do the same in your church.
Some people might have been in church for many years and are still engaged in evil practices. They have not allowed the word of God that they have been hearing for many years to changed them.
Some old members habitually speak evil of their church and servant of God. If the church is as bad as they paint it, why have they refused to leave the church? Have they been glued to their seat; did someone out rope around their neck to tie them down?.
