Here are some of the behind the scene pics from our latest animation for Children's Film Festival Seattle. Here is a link to the animation for those of you who haven't yet seen it:

We were able to use some sets from our original The Little Red Plane film but some had be be remade. The cat had to be made again from scratch this time slightly more anthropomorphised as he needed to use his arms to read a map whilst in the plane. Below are a series of pics of me making him from alluminium wire, polystyrene ball for a head, upholstering foam for his body and wool for his skin:

Below is the general set up that we used to photograph all of our set pieces. We changed the back drop colour depending on what we were trying to key out. This was @bobbins Sydney Opera House  made from felt and card:

The Below image is mark digitally placing our knitted Earth together with our plane to create the scene where our characters are doing laps of the world:

Here we are taking photographs of various crocheted clouds before they are to be keyed out and placed into the background of our animation:

This is the wonderful @ShammyShiggs making our St. Basil's Cathedral using felt and crocheting the roof tops.

The Niagara Falls scene was the last we shot. We filmed this by animating a large hand knitted blanket. We animated the waterfall seperately from the pool of water at the bottom and placed them together in aftereffects at the end. For the water spray we used cotton wool and churned it around to get the effect we needed.

We are currently prepering an original workshop that we will be taking with us to Seattle For Children's Film Festival Seattle. We'll be documenting our trip as well as the workshop.
