This is very correct. We are not perfect and we all have at least one thins special with us. We need to find out that and work on that area. 

You rightly said that no need to worry for about what we don't have instead we should focus on the area we are good it and feedback from reliable people makes us even better. Thanks for the nice post.

This is good advice, learning to receive criticism, when we accept criticism we can improve on things that we may be failing or doing wrong, constructive criticism helps us to walk towards excellence, and when it comes to destructive criticism, we simply do not  attention because it can divert your goal

Acquiring new and good habits is another good way to improve oneself, through them correct bad habits such as procrastination, laziness, sedentary lifestyle, among others. It takes some time, but by repeating an activity for a minimum of 21 days, you can consolidate and improve it

@chbartist, Definitely we all have strong points and weak points. In my opinion if we have to grow then we have to concentrate upon strong points because actions towards our strong points will going to lead towards the more productivity.

But to improve and attain more growth definitely we have to work upon our **Weaknesses** too but never go hard on yourself.

I totally agree with your method of concentrating on one ability but this is a very hard thing to achieve, especially in this modern world where we need so many diverse skills to survive. I have spent the last 5 months learning to play the violin and I did my first paid performance for 400 people last week.(not solo) it’s been a hard road and other parts of my life have suffered from neglect. Your second point discovering what kind of person you are is a hard one. We are all complicated beings and to put ourselves in a box type is difficult. Feedback from others is good but I have found that others give you advice that they themselves are not always following

The key to receiving constructive criticism is finding people who are on your side, in whom you can trust, who is wise and will tell you the truth for your own benefit. Discerning who is there to build you up and not to tear you down is crucial.

And, then, *listen* to those people! Conside them your "advisory board." Ultimately, decisions you make are your sole responsibility, but successful people realize that they have neither perspective on everything, nor all the answers within themselves.

The part towards self discovery is indeed a journey one must make alone in order to really find inner peace and strength plus abilities.
Once you discover your strengths and weaknesses and that hidden talent you posses, you now owe it to yourself to improve on them in order to be the best you can be.

I have found that one of the most effective ways to learn more about yourself, your subconscious beliefs, desires and fears, is to pay very close attention to the words that leave your mouth. The language we use, and the language others use, can be so revealing when observed keenly and with the intention of gaining insight.

I believe that the most hard thing to do for all of us is to find out the type of person we are. 
Knowing Your self makes Your more conscious about your actions and life therefore it is much easier to focus on things that are important to You and to accept criticism.
Please share  Your thoughts and give us some advice on how could we know our self better.
