以太币Ethereum被称为比特币2.0，因它以**比特币**或**其他加密货币**以基础升级，不只是在交易媒介功能的区块链,而是辅助真实经济发展的媒体。

比特币是现时最多人使用及流通量最大的一种加密货币，很多人也知道比特币是来自一个叫[中本聪]在metzdown.com发布的一系列的密码邮寄地址名单，后被人们称为Bitcoin比特币。在2009年，[中本聪]发布比特币的软件，但于2010年[中本聪]将软件的源码资料库和警报功能匙交给比特币基金会后，便从世界上消失了，直到现在亦无任何人知道[中本聪]是一个人还是一个组织，也有相传[中本聪]是未来的人，但在网络上很多人也估计[中本聪]是一班人所研究出来。虽然比特币的开发者很神秘，但相反**以太币Ethereum**的发明人不是一个身份不明的人士，而是在大学讲座的- Vitalik Buterin，他是一个加拿大借的俄罗斯人。

在2014年7月22日Vitalik Buterin发布了名为Ethereum系统的集资预售，在当天投资1个比特币的投资者可获取2000个Ether作为日后使用，亦可选择在Ethereum系统建设应用程式和作为投资。最后Vitalik Buterin在两个月便成功筹集了30000个比特币，并售出60,102,216个以太币。

Ethereum成功之处是它透过比特币的分散式点对点协议和可编写程式区块链作为应用软件的中心，只要想出应用范畴，便可以加到软件上成为一件产品。当人们买一个以太币,便能够使用Ethereum系统来自家开发分散式应用系统，现在已经有金融发展的应用如分散式点对点买卖金融产品、外汇等等，有点像比特币区域链加入聪明合约功能。

-**以太币的供应**

以太币的供应量没有任何限制，确认交易只需要15秒，针对使用聪明合约推动分散式经济应用。但相反比特币为主的加密货币主要针对支付系统和货币发行而设计，发行量会受到程式限制，每4年供应量会减半，而且比特币确认交易需时10分钟，跟以太币比较确认时间较长

现时以太币被称为比特币最大的竞争对手，但相方的发展仍是各有相长，但以实在来讲，以太币正实实在在应用于聪明合约和物联网，可发展的领域更为广宽。

-**以太币的价又是如何?**

比特币的价值是建基于获得几多人信任而用作交易媒体，以太币的用途转变，衡量价值的基础也不同。由于以太币是辅助于实体经济的工具，供应量是跟实体经济扩张性的，供应不受限制并不代表没有价值。 Ethereum系统衍生出来的货币，衡量价值的基础也是实用性，能否真正被人们广范使用，便要静心等待。

Ethereum系统的实用性很快就被实体经济企业认同而开始进行试验用于物联网，韩国三星公司联同美国IBM试验透过Ethereum以分散式数据库和支付系统实行物联网。

并于其后的IBM展览中以Ethereum令电器与电器之间自行落实聪明合约，IBM技术员指出传分散式运作的物联网能令电器与电器之间点对点沟通、通讯、支付及交易均在加密环境下进行，从而加强保安和私隐度，一方面可防止伪冒订单，另一方面有效防止黑客入侵。

简单地说，Ethereum的最主要目的是让任何人不懂得写程式亦可以自行建立分散式的应用。当建立分散式的应用普及化，人们如何使用，将来发展的前景真是无法预测。
