Microsoft Corp agreed to buy LinkedIn Corp for $26.2 billion in its biggest-ever deal, combining the software giant's fast-growing cloud services business with an online network of 433 million professionals. Microsoft will purchase Linkedin shares at around $196 per share, about 50% higher than current share price. Personally, I see both companies as hanging into past successes without much innovation. LinkedIn has turned into a less active Facebook news feed complete with memes. Slack has eaten into it's community building appeal and personal portfolio websites are becoming the standard, eliminating the need for a LinkedIn profile. Seems like a match made in heaven. That's just great... /s Microsoft just purchased the largest database of personal work history, resume's, and contact lists on the planet. Once they tie this information in with your windows license key, ip address, and cpu id, everything you do online can be easily tied to one permanent record. This is not good. If there was ever a case for stopping a merger to protect consumer data and citizen privacy this is the one.
