Which is cheaper? Well it depends. It depends on your goals, it depends on if you do buy a house how long you keep it before you sell it. It depends on if and how often you refinance. There are a lot of variances. For the most part however, unless you have some devastating repair, buying is generally cheaper in the long run. If you plan to only keep a home for 3-5 years it can be lucrative depending on appreciation (which is a hard thing to gauge in 5 years).
