I am starting a series with some of the essential parts of my practice and progress that can help others too on their journey through music, as well as entertain!
Mission No 1 for this phase of my bass & music lessons with my teacher, where we find the basslines of songs I love or trigger some curiousness/ interest in me and we analyze them!

*( Spoiler, there was a Mission No 0 (I am a developer too, hence the starting numbering with zero 😛 🙃), but I don't have the way to make it presentable the way I want to for the time being, so it will land to your feed some time in the near future! What is their Tonic Center, is the chord a Major or a Minor, which one and what is the Chords Progression of the song?
The one to start with is **"The Time Is Now" by Moloko** !

*DISCLAIMER: I'm still learning! There is a possibility I explain something in a less efficient way than a teacher will do and even make mistakes! In any case that I understand that I made a mistake or there was a better way to write something, I will correct it either by editing the post during the days I can, or by commenting it if the seven first days have passed! The song has a very clear, forward and characteristic bassline which is easy to figure out, so finding the Tonic Center was similarly easy, it is the note D.
Next step to figure out if it is a minor or Major, and as we encounter a minor third on the bassline, a minor chord it is.
But which minor chord?
In the seven modern modes we have 3 clearly minor scales (Dorian, Phrygian and Aeolian) and one more that has a minor third but also a diminished fifth and a minor seventh (Locrian).
Since in our bassline we have a perfect fifth, Locrian is out of the game (and it's not the only reason, but since we have at least one, no reason to beat the point to death). Phrygian has a minor second and we have a major one, so out it goes too! Aeolian has a minor sixth, which does not sound in harmony with the rest of the bassline. So we have a winner here, the song is in Dm Dorian!
The rest of the first part of the bassline also include Em Phrygian and Am Aeolian and for the ending of it we have F Lydian and G Mixolydian.

*The notes in Greek are saying that I should exercise in alternative fills in the F Lydian and the G Mixolydian scales*
Here we have two positions for fretting them on the lowest part of the fret horizontally and the first set of fills we have seen. (Θέση για = Position for, Γέμισμα = Fill)

And below is the fill that we liked the most and finally used on the video!
**Notes Translation**
- Γέμισμα τελευταίων 2 μέτρων του The Time Is Now = Fill of the last 2 measures of The Time Is Now
- Οι 3 τελευταίες νότες του πρώτου μέρους είναι legato = The last 3 notes of the first part are played as **legato**

Ξεκινάω μία σειρά από μερικά από τα πιο σημαντικά μέρη της εξάσκησης και της προόδου μου, η οποία μπορεί τόσο να βοηθήσει κι άλλους στο ταξίδι τους μέσα από τη μουσική, όσο και απλά να ψυχαγωγήσει!
Αποστολή No 1 για αυτή τη φάση των μαθημάτων μου στο μπάσο και τη μουσική με τον δάσκαλό μου, όπου βρίσκουμε τις μπασογραμμές από τραγούδια που αγαπάω ή τα οποία ξυπνάνε κάποια περιέργεια/ ενδιαφέρον μέσα μου και τα αναλύουμε!

Ποιο είναι το Τονικό τους Κέντρο, είναι Ματζόρε ή Μινόρε η συγχορδία, ποια συγκεκριμένα και ποια τα Chords Progressions των τραγουδιών;

*DISCLAIMER: Ακόμα μαθαίνω! Υπάρχει πιθανότητα να εξηγήσω κάτι λιγότερο αποτελεσματικά απ' ότι θα έκανε ένας δάσκαλος, ακόμα και να κάνω κάποιο λάθος! Σε κάθε περίπτωση που καταλάβω ότι έκανα λάθος ή υπήρχε καλύτερος τρόπος να γράψω κάτι, θα το διορθώσω είτε επεξεργαζόμενη τη δημοσίευση κατά τη διάρκεια των ημερών που μπορώ, είτε μέσω σχολιασμού αν έχουν περάσει οι 7 ημέρες! Το τραγούδι έχει πολύ καθαρή, ευδιάκριτη και χαρακτηριστική μπασογραμμή η οποία είναι εύκολο να βρεθεί, παρομοίως και το Τονικό Κέντρο το οποίο είναι η νότα D.
Επόμενο βήμα να ξεκαθαρίσουμε αν πρόκειται για μινόρε ή Ματζόρε, και καθώς συναντάμε μικρή τρίτη στη μπασογραμμή, πρόκειται για μινόρε συγχορδία.
Αλλά ποια απ' όλες τις μινόρε?
Στους εφτά μοντέρνους τρόπους έχουμε 3 ξεκάθαρα μινόρε κλίμακες (Δωρική - Dorian, Φρυγική - Phrygian και Αιολική - Aeolian), καθώς και ακόμα μία που έχει μικρή τρίτη, η οποία όμως έχει και ελαττωμένη πέμπτη και μικρή εβδόμη (Λοκρική - Locrian).
Εφόσον η μπασογραμμή μας έχει τέλεια πέμπτη, η Λοκρική είναι εκτός παιχνιδιού (και αυτός δεν είναι ο μόνος λόγος, αλλά σε αυτή τη φάση εφόσον έχουμε τουλάχιστον έναν, δε χρειάζεται να το τραβήξουμε από τα μαλλιά..). Η Φρυγική έχει μικρή δευτέρα κι εμείς έχουμε μεγάλη, επομένως φεύγει κι αυτή! Η Αιολική έχει μικρή έκτη, η οποία δεν ακούγεται καθόλου σε αρμονία με την υπόλοιπη μελωδία. Έχουμε λοιπόν τον νικητή μας, το τραγούδι είναι σε Dm Δωρική!
Το υπόλοιπο από το πρώτο μέρος περιλαμβάνει επίσης τις Em Φρυγική και Am Αιολική και για το τελείωμά του έχουμε F Λυδική και G Μιξολυδική.

Εδώ έχουμε δύο θέσεις για πιασίματά τους στο πιο χαμηλό (τονικά) μέρος της ταστιέρας οριζοντίως και τα πρώτα γεμίσματα που είχαμε δει.

Και παρακάτω βλέπουμε τα γεμίσματα που μας άρεσαν περισσότερο και χρησιμοποιήσαμε τελικά στο βίντεο!
