Enlightenment 2016

I noticed in the last few days, that, once again, everyone is talking about education. Well, education is never wrong, the Enlightenment is the basic pillar of our modern view of the world, so my command is: "Bring it on!"
However, what they talk about does not mean Enlightenment, not even education. There are apparently two types of knowledge dancing in the debate with one another, but none of the dance partners is Kant.
First, there is personal education. This is comparatively close to Kant, it serves the individual, but not to remove himself from the self-inflicted immaturity, but to pay off the self-inflicted study credits. Education is seen as a personal increase in market value. Nevertheless, this can be regarded as a maxim per which a general law could be directed, a general maximization of value will, to a certain extent, also benefit the public. Consequently, this aspect can be partially conformant with Kant. And maybe, yes, maybe you can also find the way out of immaturity when you have the time, sitting on your designer couch, thinking about the world and not having to ponder about the gnawing debts after coming home from work.
The second aspect is omnipresent, in all the liberal media. Trump, as they claim to know, was elected by uneducated, white-trash people from the rust belt of the US, who knew nothing of the big, wide world. Education as an escape from false elections.
In the first look, this seems to be close to Kant, the individual frees himself by knowledge, by avoiding false promises and empty claims. A cautious "thumb up" on my part.
But here, as well, is a strong interest in it, namely, that someone else would be chosen for President. Spelled out: People should be smart enough not to vote for Trump, but stupid enough to still vote for Clinton.
Education as a means of mass-influencing.

Enlightenment is useless, probably even unproductive. This is not meaningful, but descriptive. People, who can think freely, will be less likely to consume, be less easily to control by politics and media, and be less able to put their grip on the questions they are given to them, because they ask their very own questions.
You cannot pay home ownership with personal freedom of thought, but primarily the curricula are based on this.
We have not taken a step forward; on the contrary, we are no longer dying of tuberculosis at the age of thirty-five in open servitude, but a heart attack will strike us down at 65, due to our fat and sweet food consumption. The 30 additional years are spent with television, although all libraries are open to the whole world, there are no censorship authorities or book burns, no hunt for heretics and witch trials. Today you can free yourself from self-deprived immaturity, quite easily, you only must take it into your own hands.
We have so much free time for no society before us ever had. Therefore, the word "self-inflicted" is now more topical than ever before.
To know, to understand, is already Enlightenment.
