It amazes me how people neglect vaccines, knowing full well how important vaccines are. Most people are afraid of taking vaccines to a point where they avoid immunising their babies. No amount of preaching will make them immunise their kids. During my NYSC, I work with health practitioners whenever we are on the street immunising kids. The majority of the parents will not allow us to immunise their kids. Most of these people are ignorant of how important vaccines are; there is a need to inform them. Neglecting this vaccine most times will come with a big consequence. 







Vaccines are very important, and we should not joke with them. I got to realise how important vaccines are when my elder sister missed immunising her 3-month-old baby. The child really passed through pains, and my sister wasted a lot of money. Since that time, my sister has never missed the child's immunisation; she set a reminder so that she will not forget to go for the child's immunisation. Most times when there is disease in the air, the World Health Organisation [WHO], in collaboration with the government, will instruct the health practitioners to move around and immunise the kids from 0 to 5 years old. They will go from house to house, from school to school, and from church to church.

Most people don’t immunise their kids because of fear of the unknown. In my area, people don’t immunise their babies; they always have this mindset that the government wants to kill their kids by introducing vaccines. Don’t blame them because the world is not safe anymore; one needs to be guided and careful. You have every right to question whoever that is giving your kids vaccines to make sure that is from the government.





Can remember the time of covid-19; many people avoided taking the vaccine because there was this conspiracy that it was for population reduction. Many people were afraid of taking the vaccine. I will not lie; I was so afraid of taking this vaccine because of the conspiracy all over the place about the vaccine. I will not lie. The only reason why I took this vaccine that year was because of NYSC. The majority of the people in my family avoided the Covid-19 vaccine because they were afraid that the vaccine was harmful.

Don’t allow anyone to tell you that vaccines are not important; they help to fight many diseases. Don’t ever joke about vaccines. Immunise your child for your own good. There is this popular saying, Prevention is better than a curse. Instead of saying no to vaccines, join and create awareness to educate and enlighten people about why vaccines are important.
