Africans Will Earn Incentives Through Telokanda Weather Project

University students and Farming communities are now going to benefit from the [Telokanda Weather group](https://kandaweather.org) whose aim is to enable and encourage Africans to collect and share weather data. This will kickstart a new phase of climate research as it will give access for weather to be forecasted locally. It will also help in tracking hurricane, The Telokanda weather project features launching of weather balloons with high-altitude into the air by Africans. The balloons carry lightweight devices which are known as radiosondes. With the use of [TELOS](https://telos.net) Blockchain, people who launch their weather balloons successfully and have the balloon transmit data will earn TLOS tokens for doing so. This tokens can be converted to fiat using [Sesacash](https://sesacash.com) app and that will help in empowering Africans for their time and also boosting the economy.

At first, rewards that will be given to those who launch their Balloon will come from [Telos Works Proposal](docs.telos.net/developers/telos_contracts/telos-works) The Weather balloon has had eight launches so far 4 in Nigeria and 4 in USA. Due to the ability of this weather project to stand out from other Blockchain projects, the news about collection of weather data for incentives was published on Coindesk recently. Telokanda is a platform that rewards users in cryptocurrency for taking actions. The platform is divided into sub-groups e.g the ad group which allows users to get rewarded for sharing ads and the weather group. The main aim of Telokanda is to educate a larger population of Africans about Cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology. The community has been able to onboard a large number of Africans to Hive, Telos and EOS Blockchain based dapps.

Telokanda has a native currency called KANDA available on Newdex as a trading pair with TLOS, on Hive-engine and Alcor exchanges. The platform also has a tribe on Hive where bloggers can post content and earn both HIVE and KANDA tokens from their content. Users also earn Author and Curator rewards on the tribe when they have KANDA tokens staked.
