# **Dearest Natural Medicine friends**
**Here my journey continues - this is the documentation on the Hive blockchain, of an art book, full of catharsis and transformation, made in 2006-7, as I biked, trained and ferried from north to south Europe and back...**

I wanted to talk here a little around affirmation, as it is one of the approaches I use in my paintings and in life a LOT, and, it is one of these aspects of life with much mis-guidance on from the mainstream - which is no accident of course: much of mainstream 'spirituality' is purposefully elevated, to take humanity's consciousness further and further from the real medicine!

In this page of the art book, it feels like I'm desperately trying to hold self together, and this is fairly accurate; at the time I was physically, emotionally, mentally, pulled as far from my centre as I have been in my existence. I was reliving a medical termination of pregnancy from 10 yrs before, through a miscarriage (shortly after losing my mum and my gran), when I had felt so divinely-aligned with both partner and child - but he hadn't.

Affirmation in this case was an important lifeline: it kept my head above water, as it were. But I knew even then, that the words had little power to truly transform. However, the practise of drawing morning noon and night, and of movement as I boarded trains, navigated languages and junctions, found food and board, etc - the combination of these multiple functions led to a great release of weight I was carrying. The Way opened in front of me, fraction by painful fraction - but it was tangible, and it motivated me to keep going: it felt like this wee self-sufficient bubble of torn and weighed-down aspects of self, was defining a new reality, as I carried it and strained to keep moving, across cities and down towards Slovenia.

Art - and spontaneous, embodied, intuitive Art in particular - has always been a healing modality for me, and as I've powered through multifarious personal and collective challenges, fought for my health and freedoms, and redefined my reality as something far greater than society's crumbs offered, affirmations have been like  a strengthening rope, through my Art, through my mind-body-spirit, which has eventually evolved into a potent Flow of Truth.

> Part of affirmation is letting go of aspects that need to be expressed - which perhaps were not expressed at the time - and part is affirming what we WANT to be-embody-happen. There is a sweet spot like a vesica piscis, where there's overlap between two areas of life, and the overlapping area is a more fruitful, easier, softer place to create change. 

Through experimentation, daily practise (discipline) in creative expression (whatever the medium we choose) and Trust - *whole, committed, FELT Trust* - The Way opens. It might not open just because we said some phrases and repeated them in our minds ad infinitum, but it MAY open because we really meant it when we thought it, we really let go of it when it was expressed into colours and mark-making, and then we let it go out into the world without trying to keep a grasp of it (identifying with it too much can hold us back!)
