Halloween is approaching and being still without our pumpkin, we visited **Cascina Savino**, a large farm that organizes in this period the collection and creation of Halloween pumpkins, immersed in nature and in close contact with useful tools. The company has long been involved in the cultivation of fields, especially rocket, exporting a bit all over the world, especially in the USA.    ___ But for a couple of years the owners have decided to start a series of activities that would bring people closer to their land, and having fun, stimulate them to have more respect. The day is particularly hot, a sun that the earth almost seems to reflect. It is necessary to book from the website because the visit will take about an hour and a half and can accommodate a limited number of people, about a hundred adults in addition to children.    ___ After a brief presentation by the owner of the company, in which he explained what to do in the next hour, we started our search for the pumpkin to carve. The bigger the pumpkin, the harder the bark will be and the more effort and time it will take to work it. So I chose a medium sized pumpkin, although my son insisted on the large one.    ___ Then we headed to a sort of amphitheater built with hay bales as seats, a wooden crate as a table, a bag containing felt-tip pen, knife and spoon and finally an illustrative sign with different faces to carve on the pumpkin. The first step consists in drawing a star on the apex of the pumpkin, where there is the peduncle that in the beginning binds it to the plant. Then with the supplied knife I carved the drawn figure and finally literally uncorked the upper part, a sort of lid.   ___ With the spoon and also the help of the hands, we emptied the contents of the pumpkin consisting of pulp, seeds and vegetable fibers. Well, now we have drawn the contours of the eyes, nose and mouth and then, with the help of the knife, I cut out the shapes, being careful not to damage the rest of the pumpkin! Well it's not very easy especially if you've never done it, but slowly I managed to cut out the pumpkin, I wasn't very precise but that's okay, we had a lot of fun.   ___ Immediately after we delivered the kit and the box in which we emptied the contents of the pumpkin, and we left very satisfied! But before leaving the field, we visited the land of pomegranates, trees with large and red fruits, with a very hard skin but with a really sweet and antioxidant-rich juice!     ___ We collected our container and wandered through the trees in search of the bigger and redder fruits, it was a really nice choice as the ground was big and the trees seemed endless! In addition, the heat really tired us, luckily they offered us a glass of pomegranate juice, the sugary charge that gave us a lot of energy, especially for children. A great adventure, **Cascina Savino** changes the harvesting activity every season.
