This Sunday my family and I returned to visit the animals of the Santa Geffa park. In fact, due to the summer heat, it was impossible to visit the animals, which were well sheltered in their shelters, cooled with water by the many volunteers. As soon as I told my friend we were going to visit the rabbit friends (he calls them Boing Boing), he began to cheer and jump, bothering to open the refrigerator to stock up on carrots and salad.

The day is much cooler than usual, which is why we decided to visit the animals. The park of Santa Geffa is located a few kilometers away from the city, in the open countryside, so temperatures are getting higher and higher. To welcome us at the entrance came Argo, one of the two dogs that have always lived in the park and have the task of looking after the larger animals and accompanying visitors during the visit.

The first stop of our visit was at the rabbit enclosure: the number seems to have increased since our last visit, the puppies are now grown up and everyone seems to have a big appetite! In fact, as soon as we showed them a carrot, as a group they poured over to the fence and started biting the carrot. We have thrown other carrots here and there, in order to distribute the food and allow everyone to be able to eat with peace of mind.

Then we visited the enclosure of the two donkeys, Michela and Alice, who are also fond of carrots or fresh vegetables. In fact, they constantly eat straw, a variation to their diet is always welcome! Horses are also very fond of fresh carrots, a real treat on these hot days. Animals wear eye ties to prevent annoying flies from getting into the eyes. The fur of the animals is shiny and soft, the cleaning by the volunteers is constant and it is very pleasant to caress the neck of the animals.

Nicolò then started running along the avenue that leads to the fence of the ducks and goats and sheep, all eager to receive attention from visitors but above all food. The carrots were out but we had the crackers and the animals enjoyed it very much, they took turns climbing up the fence with their paws and reaching out in hopes of getting food from the people. The ducks squawked to get our attention, a cacophony of sounds and noises that after a while pushed us to move away a little, but not after having stroked a small and tender goat.

Finally, the enclosure of peacocks and hens, from which came a not exactly pleasant smell, and they too were particularly noisy. Unfortunately, the food was finished even though their bowls were full of feed. Here and there some recently produced eggs, waiting to be collected by the volunteers.

The large space available transforms the park into the ideal place to organize events for children. With the beginning of autumn, in fact, many events will be organized every Sunday: workshops, games, stories, theater and much more. Wonderful weekends await us in the company of our animal friends

# ITA

Questa domenica io e la mia famiglia siamo tornati a visitare gli animali del parco si Santa Geffa. Infatti, a causa del caldo estivo, era impossibile visitare gli animali, i quali erano ben riparati nei loro rifugi, refrigerati con acqua da parte dei tanti volontari. Non appena ho detto a mio che saremmo andati a trovare gli amici conigli (lui li chiama Boing Boing), ha iniziato a gioire e saltare, preoccupandosi di aprire il frigorifero per fare scorta do carote ed insalata.

La giornata è molto più fresca del solito, motivo per cui abbiamo deciso di far visita agli animali. Il parco di Santa Geffa si trova a qualche chilometro distante dalla città, in aperta campagna, per cui le temperature sono sempre più elevate. Ad accoglierci all'ingresso è venuto Argo, uno dei due cani che ormai vivono nel parco da sempre, e hanno il compito di badare agli animali più grandi e di accompagnare i visitatori durante la visita. 

La prima tappa della nostra visita è stata alla recinzione dei conigli: il numero sembra accresciuto dalla nostra ultima visita, i cuccioli sono ormai cresciuti e tutti sembrano avere un grande appetito! Infatti, non appena abbiamo mostrato loro una carota, in gruppo si sono riversati verso la recinzione e hanno iniziato a mordere la carota. Abbiamo lanciato qua e là altre carote, in modo da distribuire il cibo e consentire a tutti di poter mangiare con tranquillità.

Successivamente abbiamo visitato la recinzione dei due asini, Michela e Alice, anche loro ghiotte di carote o di verdura fresca. Mangiano infatti costantemente paglia, una variante alla loro dieta è sempre ben accetta! Anche i cavalli gradiscono molto le carote fresche, una vera delizia in queste giornate calde. Gli animali indossano dei laccetti sugli occhi per evitare che le mosche fastidiose non finiscano negli occhi. Il pelo degli animali è lucido e morbido, la pulizia da parte dei volontari è costante ed è molto piacevole accarezzare il collo degli animali. 

Nicolò ha poi iniziato a correre per il viale che porta alla recinzione delle papere e della capre e pecore, tutte ansiose di ricevere attenzioni da parte dei visitatori ma soprattutto cibo. Le carote erano terminate ma avevamo i crackers e gli animali hanno gradito molto, si alternavano a salire con le zampe sulla recinzione e si sporgevano nella speranza di prendere cibo dalla gente. Le papere starnazzavano per richiamare la nostra attenzione, una cacofonia di suoni e rumori che dopo un po' ci ha spinti ad allontanarci un po', non dopo però aver accarezzato una piccola e tenera capra.

Infine la recinzione dei pavoni e della galline, da cui proveniva un odore non proprio piacevole, e anche loro particolarmente rumorosi. Il cibo purtroppo era terminato anche se le loro ciotole erano piene di mangime. Qua e là qualche uovo da poco prodotto, in attesa di essere raccolte da parte dei volontari. 

Il grande spazio disponibile trasforma il parco nel luogo ideale in cui organizzare eventi per bambini. Con l'inizio dell'autunno, infatti, molto eventi saranno organizzati ogni domenica: laboratori, giochi, storie, teatro e molto altro. Ci attendono bellissimi weekend in compagnia dei nostri amici animali
