The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy taken from the beautiful books of J.R.R.Tolkien, an English writer, in love with Anglo-Saxon literature and the stories of English mythology, author of the most read and translated work in the world.

## The Fellowship of the Ring: Storyline

The narration begins with the summary of past events. The Dark Lord Sauron created several rings of power which he distributed to the kings of men and elves; all the rings, however, responded to a single ring, the one worn by Sauron, with which he managed to control all the peoples. The men and the elves, however, allied themselves and managed to defeat Sauron but the king of men, consumed by the power of the ring, does not destroy it and keeps it for himself. He will soon be killed and the ring will be lost in the river waters.

Frodo Beggins is a Hobbit, a creature from Middle-earth, Frodo's grandson, a hobbit famous for his past adventure with a dragon and Sauron's ring of power owner, stolen by Gollum, a former Hobbit rendered unrecognizable by wear of the power of the ring. Frodo, after his 111th birthday, decides, he advises his friend the magician Gandalf, to donate the ring to Frodo and leave for a last trip.

Gandalf, after some studies, recognizes the ring of power and recommends Frodo to join the Elves to leave this task. Frodo is also joined by friends Sam, Meariadoc and Peregrino and they will soon realize that the Nazgul are on their trail, ghosts of the nine kings of men. During their journey they meet Aragorn, heir of the lineage of men, and chased by the Nazgul they manage to reach Great Ravine, the city of the Elves, and Elrond heals Frodo from the effects of the blade of the ghosts.

Elrond summons the ambassadors of men, elves and dwarves to discuss the fate of the ring but Frodo offers to bring the ring to Mount Fate and destroy it by throwing it into the lava from which it was generated. In the company of his friends Hobbit, the magician Gandalf, the men Aragorn and Boromir, the elf Legolas and the dwarf Ghimli, Frodo begins his adventure. Gandalf discovers that his wizard friend Saruman is an ally of Sauron and has created an army of powerful Uruk-hai, much stronger orcs.

The company is forced to cross the dwarf mines, Moira, and face a terrible demon that will force Gandalf to leave during the battle. The rest of the company continues the journey along the river until they are attacked by the Uruk-hai who kill Boromir and capture the two Hobbits, Marry and Pippin, thinking that they have the ring. Frodo and Sam manage to escape and continue the journey alone, while Aragorn, Legolas and Ghimli chase the Uruk-hai in an attempt to free the Hobbits.

The film is truly exceptional, I liked it so much that I later also read Tolkien's books. The science fiction film is among the most beautiful in the history of cinema and has received many Oscar awards. It is a film recommended for watching older children because there are violent scenes and they could affect the sensitivity of children.

Il signore degli anelli è una trilogia tratta dai bellissimi libri di J.R.R.Tolkien, scrittore inglese, innamorato della letteratura anglosassone e delle storie della mitologia inglese, autore dell'opera tra le più lette e tradotte in tutto il mondo.

## La Compagnia dell'Anello: Trama 

La narrazione inizia con il riassunto delle vicende passate. Il signore Oscuro Sauron creò diversi anelli del potere che distribuí ai re degli uomini e degli elfi; tutti gli anelli però rispondevano ad un unico anello, quello indossato da Sauron, con il quale riuscì a controllare tutti i popoli. Gli uomini e gli elfi però si allearono e riuscirono a sconfiggere Sauron ma il re degli uomini, consumato dal potere dell'anello, non lo distrugge e lo conserva per sé. Ben presto sarà ucciso e l'anello si perderà nelle acque del fiume.

Frodo Beggins è un Hobbit, una creatura della Terra di Mezzo, nipote di Frodo, un hobbit famoso per la sua avventura passata con un drago e possessore dell'anello del potere di Sauron, rubato da Gollum, un ex Hobbit reso irriconoscibile dall'usura del potere dell'anello. Frodo, dopo il suo 111 undicesimo compleanno decide, si consiglio del suo amico mago Gandalf, di donare l'anello a Frodo e di partire per un ultimo viaggio.

Gandalf, dopo alcuni studi, riconosce l'anello del potere e raccomanda Frodo di raggiungere gli Elfi per lasciare questa incombenza. A Frodo si uniscono anche gli amici Sam, Meariadoc e Peregrino e ben presto si accorgeranno che i Nazgul sono sulle loro tracce, spettri dei nove re degli uomini. Durante il loro viaggio incontrano Aragorn, erede della stirpe degli uomini, e inseguiti dai Nazgul riescono a raggiungere Gran Burrone, la città degli Elfi, ed Elrond guarisce Frodo dagli effetti della lama degli spettri.

Elrond convoca gli ambasciatori degli uomini, elfi e nani per discutere il destino dell'anello ma Frodo si offre di portare l'anello al monte Fato e distruggerlo gettando nella lava da cui è stato generato. In compagnia dei suoi amici Hobbit, del mago Gandalf, degli uomini Aragorn e Boromir, dell'elfo Legolas e del nano Ghimli, Frodo inizia la sua avventura. Gandalf scopre che il suo amico mago Saruman è alleato di Sauron e ha creato un esercito di potenti Uruk-hai, orchi molto più forti. 

La compagnia è costretta ad attraversare le miniere dei nani, Moira, ed affrontare un terribile demone che costringerà Gandalf alla dipartita durante la battaglia. Il resto della compagnia continua il viaggio percorrendo il fiume fin quando sono attaccati dagli Uruk-hai i quali uccidono Boromir e catturano i due Hobbit, Marry e Pipino, pensando che loro abbiano l'anello. Frodo e Sam riescono a fuggire e continuano il viaggio soli, mentre Aragorn, Legolas e Ghimli inseguono gli Uruk-hai nel tentativo di liberare gli Hobbit.

Il film è davvero eccezionale, mi è piaciuto così tanto che ho successivamente letto anche i libri di Tolkien. Il film di fantascienza è tra i più belli della storia del cinema ed ha ricevuto moltissimi premi Oscar. È un film consigliato alla visione dei più grandi perché ci sono delle scene violente e potrebbero urtare la sensibilità dei bambini.
