Hola, queridísimo lector. Espero que hoy sea un gran día para ti.

Quiero contarte que desde hace un par de semanas, convencida por la fastidiosa de mi hermana @gabiotabalbas, me inscribí en un concurso de canto en la ciudad capital, hago énfasis en el lugar, ya que yo vivo en las afueras, en otra provincia, lo que hace que esté a dos horas en transporte publico del lugar del concurso.

El evento se llama "Yo sí canto" (sí, como el famoso programa de Venevisión, en Venezuela). Ha sido una propuesta interesante pero bastante fuera de mi zona de confort y no por las exigencias del evento si no por el ambiente, las horas y el lugar donde se lleva a cabo.

Primero se realizaron dos castings, yo fui al segundo día, luego una gran gala y ahora vamos a la gran final. Les contaré a detalle: 

Un jueves a la noche fui con mi hermana, Leal (mi pareja), y Glorimar (la madrina de mi hija), a un "resto-bar" con pinta de discoteca (boliche, como le dicen aquí) siguiendo las indicaciones de un flyer que convocaba a los cantantes de la zona a participar en un concurso organizado por una productora de eventos: Holic (@Holic.ar en redes) y un chico que dirige el show conocido artísticamente como Kencho (@Kenchomusic). La cuestión decía comenzar a las 10pm y comenzó casi a medianoche; ese día participamos unas 15 personas y fuimos 10 seleccionados. Supe que para el primer casting fue más o menos la misma cantidad de personas. Allí, Kencho, un chico muy simpático nos recibio y se presentó como organizador. Nos dio las pautas, nos explicó la dinámica y subió a la tarima como moderador y animador.

La dinámica fue la siguiente: él llamó por la lista donde nos habíamos anotado, uno a uno, dijimos una canción al chico que llevaba el sonido y éste la ubicaba por YouTube, cantábamos y luego el  jurado calificador, conformado por 4 integrantes: dos que evaluarían la parte musical y otros dos que calificarían puesta en escena, vestuario y demás items pertinentes nos darían sus devoluciones sobre la presentación. Luego de la participación de cada concursante, escogieron a los seleccionados. Mi hermana y yo, estuvimos en ese grupo convocado para la gran gala de la semana próxima.

En la semana, ya habían conformado el respectivo grupo de WhatsApp en donde se dieron las pautas; los participantes deben ir con un tema para impresionar, con su barra, dispuestos a todo para pasar a la gran final. Sería una sola gala, entonces había que ir con todo, o así nos dijeron. Debíamos ubicarnos al llegar en la parte de arriba del local, el área vip, y esperar a ser llamados. Cuando llegó el día del evento, el siguiente jueves, fuimos igual: mi hermana, mi pareja, mi comadre y se sumó mi cuñada, llegamos al sitio que ya estaba lleno de gente y esperamos un par de horas para que iniciara todo. Resultó que los participantes se quedaron donde quisieron y nosotras sí nos ubicamos arriba con todo y barra. Así comenzaron a llamar a los participantes y uno a uno fue cantando su canción.

Cuando  llegó mi turno, canté "En Cambio no" de Laura Pausini. Para ser sincera, no, no fue mi mejor presentación. Por miedo usé una pista con un tono más bajo y me escuchaba como ahogada, además que hay un miembro del jurado que desde el inicio no me ha dado buenas devoluciones y eso me tenía incómoda y nerviosa, pero igual resolví hacer el tema y al final, me sentí tranquila con lo que había logrado. También debo acotar que para el casting canté una canción que me gusta mucho de La Quinta Estación, Qué te quería (se las traeré pronto por acá). Esta canción me gusta muchísimo y fue el tema que utilicé para el casting de mi primer concurso a los 15 años y la escogí porque es fresca, desenfadada y me siento fuerte con ella. Ese día en el casting, me sentía regia pero el sonido fue pésimo y hubo mucho feedback, creo que por eso estaba tan nerviosa para la segunda presentación que tuve, así que, en vista de no haberlo hecho prolijo en las dos presentaciones anteriores, decidí que para la final del concurso cantaré un bolero hermoso que me encanta y lo haré tranquila y serena sin preocupaciones, total, no voy pensando en premiaciones. Por supuesto que me encantaría ganar alguno de los premios, pero esta vez, ya siento que gané por haber salido de mi zona de confort, viajado hasta allá, haberme maquillado, puesto ropa de escenario y dispuesto a hacer una presentación que habían pasado tantos años sin tener la oportunidad de hacerlo.

Por lo pronto, les comento que para esta Final, tuvimos que vender 5 entradas cada una así que tendremos barra. Vamos dispuestas a traernos algo a casa y a ser felices en el proceso. Porque es la magia de los concursos, se vive la adrenalina, te esfuerzas por hacer tu mejor trabajo y que no quepa la duda de por qué estás sobre ese escenario. Al final, la competencia es contigo mismo, dar de ti lo mejor para mostrar tu talento y que te sientas feliz con tu trabajo realizado. Lo demás es el plus extra.

Hello, dearest reader. I hope today is a great day for you.

I want to tell you that since a couple of weeks ago, convinced by my nagging sister @gabiotabalbas, I signed up for a singing contest in the capital city, I emphasize the location, since I live in the outskirts, in another province, which makes it two hours away by public transportation from the contest venue.

The event is called "Yo sí canto" (yes, like the famous Venevision show in Venezuela). It has been an interesting proposal but quite out of my comfort zone and not because of the demands of the event but because of the atmosphere, the hours and the place where it takes place.

First there were two castings, I went to the second day, then a big gala and now we are going to the grand finale. I will tell you in detail: 

One Thursday night I went with my sister, Leal (my partner), and Glorimar (my daughter's godmother), to a "resto-bar" looking like a disco (boliche, as they call it here) following the indications of a flyer that called singers from the area to participate in a contest organized by an event production company: Holic (@Holic.ar in networks) and a guy who runs the show known artistically as Kencho (@Kenchomusic). The thing said to start at 10pm and it started almost at midnight; that day we participated about 15 people and we were 10 selected. I knew that for the first casting was more or less the same amount of people. There, Kencho, a very nice guy welcomed us and introduced himself as the organizer. He gave us the guidelines, explained the dynamics and took the stage as moderator and animator.

The dynamics was as follows: he called for the list where we had signed up, one by one, we said a song to the guy who had the sound and he located it on YouTube, we sang and then the qualifying jury, consisting of 4 members: two who would evaluate the musical part and two others who would qualify staging, costumes and other relevant items would give us their feedback on the presentation. After the participation of each contestant, they chose the selected ones. My sister and I, were in that group called for the big gala next week.

In the week, they had already formed the respective WhatsApp group where the guidelines were given; participants must go with a theme to impress, with their bar, ready to do everything to move to the grand finale. It would be a single gala, so we had to go all out, or so we were told. We had to be located at the top of the place, the VIP area, and wait to be called. When the day of the event arrived, the following Thursday, we went the same way: my sister, my partner, my comadre and my sister-in-law joined us, we arrived at the place that was already full of people and we waited a couple of hours for everything to start. It turned out that the participants stayed where they wanted and we stayed upstairs with the bar and everything. So they started to call the participants and one by one they sang their song.

When it was my turn, I sang "En Cambio no" by Laura Pausini. To be honest, no, it was not my best performance. For fear I used a track with a lower pitch and I sounded like I was drowned out, plus there is a member of the jury who from the beginning has not given me good feedback and that made me uncomfortable and nervous, but I still decided to do the song and in the end, I felt calm with what I had achieved. I should also mention that for the casting I sang a song that I really like by La Quinta Estación, Qué te quería (I'll bring it here soon). I like this song very much and it was the song I used for the casting of my first contest at the age of 15 and I chose it because it is fresh, casual and I feel strong with it. That day at the casting, I felt great but the sound was terrible and there was a lot of feedback, I think that's why I was so nervous for the second presentation I had, so, in view of not having done it neatly in the two previous presentations, I decided that for the final of the contest I will sing a beautiful bolero that I love and I will do it calm and serene without worries, I'm not thinking about awards. Of course I would love to win any of the prizes, but this time, I already feel that I won for having left my comfort zone, traveled there, put on makeup, stage clothes and willing to make a presentation that had been so many years without having the opportunity to do so.

In the meantime, for this Final, we had to sell 5 tickets each, so we will have a bar. Let's go ready to bring something home and be happy in the process. Because that's the magic of the competitions, you live the adrenaline, you strive to do your best work and that there is no doubt why you are on that stage. In the end, the competition is with yourself, giving your best to show your talent and that you feel happy with your work. The rest is the extra plus.
