 《芈月传》是中国的一部大剧，由郑晓龙导演，孙俪刘涛等人主演。 在电视剧中，秦王举鼎而亡，被笑话了两千年。 秦武王（前329年—前307年），姓嬴，名荡，乃秦惠文王之子，又被称之为秦武烈王，其母为王后芈姝，乃秦惠文王之长子。 嬴荡在取名之时，秦王赢驷以荡字为其取名，除了纪念成烫的意义之外，也有着希望儿子能够赢荡列国，一统天下之意。 嬴荡之人，长得虎背熊腰，天生神力，在其率领大军前往洛阳敬拜周天子的时候，周天子还亲自迎接。 在朝会处，秦武王嬴荡见到了传说中的九鼎，认为象征着秦国山川的雍州鼎，其位置不对，要挪动其位置，故而命令身旁的大将前去移鼎，其大将失败，秦武王嬴荡便自己来，众大臣劝阻无效，秦武王嬴荡执意要举鼎。 电视剧中，嬴荡顺利地将鼎举了起来，并移动了脚步，但没走稳，鼎掉了下来，砸中其右小腿，整条腿被砸的粉碎，因血流不止而亡。 如果秦武王举鼎成功，就会成了「举鼎中原」的美谈，可惜他失败了，被认为是自不量力，所以举鼎的政治表演以笑话收场。
