# [Curate Mate](https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000999008bd30?hl=en&source=web) updates!

A major advantage of using Firebase cloud functions as the backend to [Curate Mate](https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000999008bd30?hl=en&source=web) is that we can push changes with immediate effect, where as we need approval from Google to make Dialogflow related changes.

## The browsing carousel has been improved!
* Attempts to display user provided images - risky in case of NSFW content but much more appealing than 10 whaleshares logos.
* The body of threads are no longer shown in the description of each carousel item.
  * Why? Most threads bodies would include difficult to filter image filenames and formatting that didn't represent the content in its true form.
* Each thread is summarized as "username's post is about: thread's tags"
* Share and comment counts are shown in each item's footer instead of the tags.
* Invalid tag/topic input fallback has been improved

## How can [Curate Mate](https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000999008bd30?hl=en&source=web) improve further?

* Provide translations within Dialogflow and in the backend webhook (using i18n) - this will be one of the last steps.
* If your phone is set to English localization/langauge yet you're blocked from using curate mate, please report the issue to Google directly - this is a problem on their side.
* By simply using [Curate Mate](https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000999008bd30?hl=en&source=web)! The more you use it, the more relevant feedback you can provide and also the more Dialogflow will learn from your conversations (improving future user interactions).
* We should add the ability to ask for additional trending tags - we support a few hundred tags yet we only suggest the top 30 trending tags in the tag list intent.
