Today I wanted to complain about how ridiculous some companies are!

# Not Forking Over My Info

We ran into a situation recently where one of the companies that we've been doing business with wanted way more information than they should be getting and we put our foot down and said fuck you!

These days, some companies get so damn brazen with their shenanigans! We've been long-time customers of some companies for a while out of convenience but one of the things that comes with convenience is they want people to become complacent and give into their demands. Well, they tried to do that shit with us and we told them to go take a fucking hike! 

One of the companies that we've been doing business with for 10 years now at this point just decided that they were going to send us a ridiculous request for far more information than they should ever really need to. I called their bluff on it though and didn't send them the information. That led to the service being stopped and a few angry phone calls. I made very clear to the person that I was talking with on the phone that I was not mad at her, she was just doing her job and I fault her nothing for the issue that I'm in, because I know what it feels like to have someone be an asshole to you despite being mad at the company or situation they are in which you did not cause.

The woman was pretty good about the situation but she was unwavering. They demanded the information they had no business in getting and they came up with some horseshit "to improve our security" yeah fuck that, you can shove that security up your ass! I was pretty annoyed about the whole damn thing but it goes to show how these companies have such 1.0 mindsets when it comes to these types of things. Instead of improving their systems or processes, they just demand more from us as consumers and try to fall back on forcing us to do it as a way to keep doing business with them. I know that the company likely has gotten many people to fork over their information but they weren't getting shit from me! When I'm stubborn about something like this, there's little to no budging on my perspective LOL kiss my ass!

The whole situation reminded me of how insane and greedy these legacy companies are though, especially about information. They gobble up and sell our information day in and day out but when we as consumers won't bow down to their ridiculous demands, they get all fucked up and try to use their power as leverage. Well, times are a changing ya bastards! I know that my refusal to give them additional information is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to their larger business dealings but I would like to consider it as a trend, where people like myself are refusing to allow these big companies to push us around in the ways that they used to with other people because that is quite frankly unnecessary and not in our best interest. The more we can push back against these criminals and their greedy ways, the more they will have to update and change their business model and practices. These are the best ways to get the damn people to cut the shit out.

As we've seen with recent issues in the world, the more the people agree and go along with things the more these companies will push to get more and more out of us. If we simply start, en masse, saying "NO" then they will have to course correct and figure out different ways of doing things. I really like the power that we have, and we've always had it but many didn't exercise it because it was a lot easier to let them go along with these bullshit things. I'm actually surprised because my wife was the one who originally saw what they were asking for and immediately said "NO". She's usually one to just go along to get along with things like that but kudos to her for not putting up with their horse shit! Lol.

Thankfully with how business is these days, there are dozens of companies behind this one who are more than willing to let me give them our business so we left it with the other company "maybe, I need to find the information" and just left it at that. The term I recently heard to describe this is "Voice and Exit" where we say our piece, with me saying to the company that I think this is a load of bullshit and feel like they are isolating me and not doing this to all their customers, and then take ourselves and our business elsewhere. We leave these foolish companies to do what they try to do while we move on with our lives. The more we all do this, the better we can make things overall!
