My 4 years old son is enjoying this book. I have Jolly phonics 1 and 2. We finish the part one. 

> We haven't started it yet but we are making small steps to introduce the way the letters sound, not just the letter itself. Our son has been getting better at recognizing a letter if I start to make the sound of it.

Lovely to know. Yes, I agree, every child is different and Learning at their own pace is important. 

> One thing we aren't looking forward to is not being able to spell a word out loud and not have him understand what we mean lol like saying "I might take him to the P A R K" if we aren't entirely sure about doing that, depending on the mood or weather haha.

I am guilty with this. haha
