# Finalmente podemos jugar algunos juegos en la Wii! 

A unos días de terminar el año no faltaba yo con una actualización de cómo va mi proyecto de la Wii para jugarlo TODO (o casi todo) la verdad es que desde mi anterior post no le prestado demasiada atención a este proyecto, pero si he logrado algunos avances que me han encantado, en el anterior post mencione que había instalado USB Loader GX para poder así cargar juegos desde una memoria USB lo cual esta genial porque me sobran varias memorias así como pendrives en mi casa y con esto puedo llenar mi Wii de juegos. Pero faltaba otra cosa y era provechar la unidad de lectura de discos que tiene la consola para no llenarme todas las memorias con cientos de GB en cada una de ellas, así que investigue un poco que archivos requería para desbloquear este canal para jugar juegos a partir de discos DVD y la verdad me ha sorprendido lo fácil que es. 

Primero hablemos de estos discos DVD especiales que usan Nintendo y otras grandes empresas, inicialmente para la Wii cuando Nintendo sacaba un juego lo hacía con un tipo especial de disco que venía con un sello de garantía que leía la Wii y con eso sabía que juego estabas jugando pero resulta que desde el mismo lanzamiento de la consola existen métodos para hacerle bipass a este pequeño método de seguridad y hacer que nuestra Wii lea los DVD que queramos, desde juegos hasta películas e incluso música (hay algunos canales para reproducir música y películas que seguro traeré luego a un post), lo cierto es que es más fácil de lo que debería ser y hoy en 2021 es solo una cuestión de descargar unos archivos y ejecutarlos vía The Homebrew Channel.

Como dije hay varios archivos que funcionan bien para hacer correr los discos DVD crackeados en nuestra consola Wii pero yo voy por lo simple y por lo que no me toma mucho tiempo instalar. Encontré el archivo NeoGamma que es un canal de Wii que instalado por Homebrew Channel permite leer todo tipo de DVDs que previamente hayamos instalado con juegos, de esta forma ya no solo estoy dependiendo de los USB y las memorias que tengo por acá sino también de los discos que pueda comprar en cualquier local por acá (hay muchos eso se les puedo asegurar), por lo que solo bastaba ir a la tienda a conseguir algunos DVDs para probar el nuevo canal de NeoGamma. 

Tuve suerte de conseguir algunos juegos bastante buenos como Rayman Origins, (posiblemente uno de los mejores plataformas de la historia) además de otros juegos tipo fiesta que seguramente solo jugare cuando venga algún amigo o familiar a la casa, al final compre Mario Party 9 y Mii Party, que muy pronto me iba a dar cuenta que son exactamente el mismo juego solo que Mario Party tiene las texturas de un Mario común, me los traje a la casa y al momento de probarlos en la Wii.. No funcionaron, creo que el NeoGamma estaba desactualizado así que tuve que sacar la memoria, investigar un poco más y descargar una versión del Neogamma que fuese compatible con mi Wii y voula, tenemos el primer juego funcionando:

No puedo expresar la emoción de hacer funcionar una de estas consolas, al principio parecía como una misión imposible pero el internet es grandioso haciendo simple las cosas complejas, en ningún momento tuve que experimentar con mi consola, solo investigar un poco más si en dado caso tenía un problema o no sabía algún procedimiento adecuado, es casi una experiencia espiritual tanto darle un nuevo soplo de aire fresco a una vieja consola como hacerla correr nuevos juegos, se los recomiendo por si en algún momento tienen alguna oldie guardada en sus cajones, nunca es tarde para aprender nuevas cosas en esta vida. 

Ahora que ya al fin pude jugar después de estar casi 1 mes preparándome y poniendo la Wii en su configuración óptima para todo este procedimiento ahora si puedo ir a lo que de verdad me interesa, ahora paso a la parte de buscar algunos emuladores de juegos antiguos para poder jugarlos por primera vez en mi Wii, juegos de la Game Boy o de la NES o Gamecube van a pasar por mi consola pero primero tengo que ir nuevamente por el proceso de instalarle estos emuladores (usualmente es fácil) pero eso es material para otro post, espero la estén pasando bien en sus hogares, manténganse abrigados y pasen un feliz año! El próximo será mejor eso no lo dudes ni por un segundo!

# We finally can play some games on the Wii! 

A few days before the end of the year I was not missing with an update on how my Wii project is going to play ALL (or almost all) the truth is that since my previous post I have not paid too much attention to this project, but I have made some progress that I have loved, in the previous post I mentioned that I had installed USB Loader GX to load games from a USB stick which is great because I have several memories and pen drives in my house and with this I can fill my Wii with games. But there was another thing missing and that was to take advantage of the disc reading unit that the console has so I wouldn't fill all the memories with hundreds of GB in each one of them, so I did some research on what files I needed to unlock this channel to play games from DVD discs and the truth is that I was surprised how easy it is. 

First let's talk about these special DVD discs that Nintendo and other big companies use, initially for the Wii when Nintendo released a game they did it with a special type of disc that came with a warranty seal that read the Wii and with that I knew what game you were playing but it turns out that since the launch of the console there are methods to make bipass to this small security method and make our Wii read the DVDs we want, from games to movies and even music (there are some channels to play music and movies that I will surely bring later to a post), the truth is that it is easier than it should be and today in 2021 is just a matter of downloading some files and run them via The Homebrew Channel.

As I said there are several files that work well to run cracked DVD discs on our Wii console but I'm going for simple and what doesn't take me much time to install. I found the NeoGamma file which is a Wii channel that installed by Homebrew Channel allows to read all kind of DVDs that we have previously installed with games, this way I am not only depending on the USB and flash drives that I have around here but also on the discs that I can buy in any store around here (there are many I can assure you), so I just had to go to the store to get some DVDs to test the new NeoGamma channel. 

I was lucky to get some pretty good games like Rayman Origins, (possibly one of the best platformers in history) plus other party type games that I will surely only play when a friend or family member comes to the house, in the end I bought Mario Party 9 and Mii Party, which very soon I was going to realize that they are exactly the same game only that Mario Party has the textures of a common Mario, I brought them home and when I tried them on the Wii. They didn't work, I think the NeoGamma was outdated so I had to pull out the memory, investigate a little more and download a version of Neogamma that was compatible with my Wii and voila, we have the first game working:

I can' t express the emotion of making one of these consoles work, at the beginning it seemed like an mission impossible but the internet is great making simple the complex things, at no time I had to experiment with my console, just investigate a little more if I had a problem or did not know any proper procedure, it is almost a spiritual experience to give a new breath of fresh air to an old console and make it run new games, I recommend it if at some point you have an oldie stored in your drawers, it is never too late to learn new things in this life and give things a second chance.


Now that I could finally play after being almost 1 month preparing myself and putting the Wii in its optimal configuration for all this procedure now I can go to what really interests me, now I go to the part of looking for some emulators of old games to be able to play them for the first time in my Wii, Game Boy or NES or Gamecube games will go through my console but first I have to go through the process of installing these emulators again (usually easy) but that's material for another post, I hope you are having a good time at home, stay warm and have a happy new year!
