Eagerly waiting for Shri Ganesha Festival
Ganesh Chaturthi also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi is the Hindu festival that is celebrated all over India but mainly in Maharashtra and Karnataka. We start the festival with the installation of Ganesha clay idols privately in homes, or publicly on elaborate pandals and it is celebrated for a day and a half, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days or 11 days depending on the family tradition and commitment of each individual.

This year the preparation has been started because Ganesh Chaturthi is been celebrated on 25th August i.e. only 4 days to go. You will see all the Ganesha Idols are being getting sold on the footpaths.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten-day festival mainly celebrated by Hindu(but all religion people take part in this) celebrated to honour the elephant-headed God Ganesha's birthday. He is the younger son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

Goddess Parvati created Ganesha of the dirt of her body while having a bath and made him guard of the door while she finishes her bath. When Shiva tried to enter the door, Ganesha didn't allow him as he did not knew him. This made shiva angry and then Shiva severed the head of Ganesha. Parvati was enraged and Shiva promised Ganesha will live again. The devas who went in search of a head facing north of a dead person could manage only the head of an elephant. Shiva fixed the elephant's head on the child and brought him back to life.
