Raising Kids Is Getting Costly

We ere middle class from the starting, we were there siblings and thus we have seen the hardship when were kid. But still we used to study in decent school because at that time the fees were not so high. We used to get new clothes once in a year and we used to go for a vacation once in a year. That's it, no eating out, no fancy things nothing.

But now raising kids is becoming a costly affair. The decent school are costly, the vaccinations are costly and the doctor fees are also getting out of hand. And not only that, the kids want to do extra curricular activities too which also are costly. For example, I enquired about a swimming class in my neighborhood. They were charging Rs 5K for 21 classes. The badminton class, the drawing classes and other classes are expensive too.

But you have to make your child do extra curricular activities so that they will flourish. And that's why it is getting expensive affair. And then you have to get new dresses, new things for activities in school and what not. And the school fees are getting out of hand too. Like every year, the fees gets increases by 10% and the starting fees are expensive too. Then you have to give good amount of money for school books and other things.

And that's why home schooling is becoming a trend. A lot of parents have started homeschooling their kids. The problem is that, the kids might not be able to generate social skills with the home schooling. Along with that since I stay in Bangalore, here Kannada is compulsory. So I have to sent my daughter a Kannada home tuition and that's again an extra cost. So I guess 7 to 10% of my montjly income goes for raising my kid. And that too when I have just one kid. If someone has more kids the costs increases substantially.
