Should Stop MF investments due to the recession

I was having a conversation with my friends about the recession which is looming all over the world. Looking at the charts of the US, it seems like a recession is about to come and thus the whole world will be affected by this. Now when the recession comes all the asset classes will be affected along with Stocks and Mutual Funds so is it better to stop all our investments because of the recession?

If you are worrying that your job might be at risk then I think its better to move all your equity MF to debt MF so that they can serve as extra liquid funds which can be used in times of emergency like an emergency fund also you will have the lump sum amount so that you can invest when the market will be down. But stopping all the investment is not a wise decision, what is the recession is just an ad-hock and does not actually happen.

The good thing to do now is to have a strong cash base to go over any difficulties due to job loss and inflation. I think it can be over and above your emergency expense where the money can be used for 1-3 years of annual expenses. If it can be done without stopping the investment then do it, otherwise, you can reduce the investment for some months while accumulating this amount of money.

What I am doing is reducing the equity exposure from 80% to 50% for the next few months before the recession scenario is clear and that 50% of debt can be used to accumulate the living expense for the next 1 year at least.

And thus as you can see I have reduced the equity exposure of my portfolio from 80% to 50%.

My point of view was to move 50% into cash/stablecoins above $30K... it has since proven to be a good move... very modest accumulation until the narrative shifts...

I am not yet familiar with Mutual Funds. This strategies of yours will help be what to look for as I do more research on the topic.
Btw, can you any link that can help me understand MF quickly and easily?
