Steem is a new generation social media platform where steemit users can choose to consume, curate, or create content. Steem enables users to vote for the content that they feel is worthy of consuming. 

This voting system allows content consumers to reward the content creator or content curator. The more quality signals that the post has, like upvotes, comments, replies and shares the more visibility it gets on the steemit platform.

It also has a sister video channel called Dtube where users can shift from using Youtube and host content within the steem it system which also rewards its users in similar fashion with steem cryptocurrency.

There are a number of controversial topics with the Steemit platform.
