The name of people with great influence carries power. An enemy of the Jews called Haman issued a decree using the authority in the name of king Ahasuerus to annihilate and destroy all the Jews. With the king's name and seal on a document, an entire nation of people was to be annihilated. Queen Esther who had favour with the king pleaded for a counter decree to be issued in the king's name to revoke or render the decree of Haman useless. 

>After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who were with him.  And all the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.  Then the king’s servants who were within the king’s gate said to Mordecai, “Why do you transgress the king’s command?”  Now it happened, when they spoke to him daily and he would not listen to them, that they told it to Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s words would stand; for Mordecai had told them that he was a Jew.  When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.  But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus—the people of Mordecai. Esther 3:1-6

Though Haman had an authority to destroy, Esther had the authority to revoke. Kings issue authority and decrees in their name and their decrees carries power. The bible says:

>Where the word of a king is, there is power; and who may say to him, "What are you doing? Ecclesiastes 8:4 

We are Kings and queens on earth and we speak and there is power, we decree and declare things and it is established. 
Anything the enemy has done against us; we can undo it if we rely on superior authority. Though Haman had a name and was very powerful yet he taught it wise to use a superior name to execute his plan. 

The king told Esther to use the same authority Haman had used, but to exercise it according to jurisdiction given her: that is in the king's name sealed with his signet ring. The only problem with Esther was that as a queen she knew the authority her husband has over all the 127 provinces but she didn't know how to exercise it herself and so the king tells her how:

>Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, "Indeed, I have given Esther the house of Haman, and they have hanged him on the gallows because he tried to lay his hand on the Jews. "You yourselves write a decree for the Jews, as you please, in the king's name, and seal it with the king's signet ring; for a letter which is written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet ring no one can revoke." Esther 8:6-7

The king taught her how to issue authority in his name. The only time our enemy the devil will prevail and gain grounds to attack is when he sense that we are ignorant of who we truly are and the authority we have over him in Jesus name.

The disciples use to ask Jesus everything and he provides them. They relied greatly on him because he carried a authority and power for says to them:

>Then Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.Mathew 28:18 

Although they knew him to be master over everything because he carried authority in heaven and on earth but he wanted them to exercise that same authority in his name rather than asking him for everything. Instead of asking him for everything they should rather ask in his name for his name carries authority:


>"And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23-24

He expect us to ask in His name, the name is a seal, an authority and by that name every knees should bow, all powers should surrender, and every tongue should confess that he is Lord.
