It's March 8, the International Women's Day! Honestly, I wasn't too keen to post anything today because it's almost 11PM now and I had a long day. But, I set aside my fatigue and decided to write here in honor of this special day.

I think most people are familiar with the purpose of Women's Day but what does it mean to me personally? 

Well, my days are always full of activities I rarely think about such questions nor do I even care to answer it. But if I need to give an opinion about it, well since I am not good with words I guess I just have to show you what it means to me. 

##### ❤️ Women's Day Is A Celebration Of My Daily Grind ❤️

As a mother with two growing children (13 & 9 years old), my life is full of family commitments from dawn to late night. Let me show you some of my daily grinds, though these are just some of the things I normally do each day. 

My day usually starts at 6AM to prepare breakfast for the family and to cook and pack lunch for my husband. With the raising inflation rates, eating out every day is not an option. So packing lunch from home to work is the only way to cut the cost of our living expenses. 

My mornings are full of mundane housework and once they are completed, it's time to work out. I spend up to one hour exercising daily, 5 days a week. I am quite consistent and have been doing it for the past several years. 

Since today I was busy I only spent 30 minutes exercising but somehow managed to burn up to 366kcal. I feel proud of my achievement. It is not easy to achieve that burn within a short period of time.

And of course, a selfie is a must. I feel strong and empowered after each workout.

The new school term is scheduled to start in a couple of weeks time and I needed to shop for my kids' school uniforms and supplies. After lunch with the kids, we went to Lotus's Hypermarket to shop for their stuff. And again with the raising cost of almost every thing under the sun, I had to fork out more than MYR700 (USD156) to pay for them and some groceries. CRAZY!

We spent a couple of hours shopping and when we went home it was almost 6PM. No time for me to rest, so I headed to the kitchen to cook dinner. 

One of the dish for tonight's dinner - Coca Cola Chicken. Yup, the sauce was made from Coke.

Right after dinner, it was time for my daughter's online classes and I had to monitor her progress. It is school holiday but she is attending extra classes (Maths, History, Malay Language) to prepare her for high school. Sounds extreme and cruel to force her to study during the holidays...well...this is a typical life for a kid in Asia...

And once everyone is already retired for the day, it's time for me to work on my side gig - portrait drawing to support my family financially. I spend 1 to 2 hours most nights to work on the portraits. Some are commission portraits but some are my personal projects (fanart) like this one. Sometimes when I am too tired I could only work on it for 30 minutes.

So there you go, a glimpse to my daily grind. I am a busy mother and wife, who needs to work hard like countless other strong women around the world. I am the backbone of my family, a Home Minister who needs to take care of the boring details of daily life so that our family is taken care of. My job might not be glamorous like those who works in the office but I take pride in whatever I do everyday because I know, not everyone is willing to sacrifice their time and life doing mundane and homely stuff like I do, every single day, like an efficient clockwork. 

To me the International Women's Day is a celebration of myself, my abilities, my uniqueness, my strength, and my ordinariness. I am a mother, a wife, a woman, who strives hard to holds her family together, and that is worth celebrating.
