Reclaiming our animal instinct: the importance of living an audacious and courageous life by acting on our desires.

Modern day humans (particularly men) are like lions who have become house cats.

We have traded risk for security and in doing so miss out on much life experiance.

We do this by putting up defenses at every possible danger: so much so that by the end of it we allow ourselves no freedom at all.

We remain in a box: a safety net.

Never uprising to our fullest potential because we are comfortable where we are at.

We have sacrificed our bold nature for a small life: never acting on our desires and overthinking everything.

Many of us have become like robots.

Mechanical men.

We think too much: feel too little.

What would our lives look like if we acted on our desires?

Trading a life of sequrity for a life of adventure?

We need to live like a lion and trust our instincts fully - acting on them in every moment.

This can bring us great power and a prosperous life

Rather than become a soft, playful housecat, wouldn't you rather be a lion?

Bold and fierce?

Nothing standing in the way of your will?

This is the true nature of men.

Direct action.

Is there anything you ever wished to do desperately, but did not possess the courage?

Chances are if you had of done it the worst possible outcome wouldn't be as bad as the regret of not doing it.....so why do we haunt ourselves by living in our heads rather than in the moment?

>“Acting on desire is more like a craft, a science, an art. It takes careful mindful practice. Be patient and quiet. Listen, observe, take notes. Figure out what you want, privately, and then choose to want it, publicly. Put your desire out in the open. I want to go swimming. I want to bake bread. I want to paint a picture. I want to build a chair. I want to write a book. You act and then you fail. Over and over. And it’s better to start failing when you’re young, when all you lose is an ice-cream cone or a basketball game or an afternoon of fun. When you’re older, the stakes are higher. If adults don’t know how to want, then they lose a love, a career, a life.”

― David Barringer

Acting on our desires is akin to living a joyous life.

When we fail to act on our desires, we run the risk of surpressing them, pushing them deep down inside of us. If we do this enough, we can become severly depressed.

According to principles of simple desire
Satisfactionism, your life goes well to the extent that your
desires are satisfied.

This means that desires must be acted upon if we wish to relieve ourselves of our desires and concurrently fullfill them.

Acting on our desires can bring much fulfillment and satisfaction: while not acting on them can bring much sorrow.

A lion desires to be king of the jungle.

He desires the challenge of hunting a healthy giraffee.

If an animal is unhealthy, the lion won't touch it: it is not a challenge.

The lion is a fantastic beast: and he desires challenge.

You too can become like a lion.

You can chase your desires; and leave none unfullfilled.

Because if we leave our desires unfulfilled,

Well our hearts might just become too heavy.

And we may not be granted passage to the after life.

People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.
