About three weeks ago, an artist posted a video in a women's entrepreneur group, asking the community to weigh in on the way hers and other artist's artwork is being censored on traditional social media (Facebook considers some of her sketches of naked bodies porn, and censors them 🙄). So she decided to leave Facebook and was wondering where to go.

**When I saw her post, I told her about Steemit, D.Tube, and the Brave Browser (in addition or as an alternative to Patreon).**

She was happy to hear she didn't have to reinvent the wheel and that the world she imagined already existed!! So she downloaded the [Brave Browser](https://brave.com/con973), she signed up to Steemit (please welcome @clareartista) and started exploring. She totally jumped into the rabbit hole!! 

It's been about two weeks since she joined Steemit, so I connected with her the other day to see what her first impression was, not only of Steemit, but the concept of decentralisation as a whole. **We talked about the struggles of artists and creative entrepreneurs trying to fit into the current system and dealing with more and more limits being put on them.** 

**We had an amazing conversation about consumerism, consciousness, free will, value and permanence, intentionality, and so much more!**

I'm always interested in hearing from newcomers, because it's easy to forget what it was like when we first discovered this new world for ourselves. 

**What concerns, objections, questions, struggles did we have? What language did we use for things we couldn't name yet? I think this is important for anyone who is onboarding newcomers to Steemit or the crypto space in general.** 
 
Every time someone asks me why crypto hasn't spread more yet, I respond, *"Because we (crypto enthusiasts) haven't learned how to speak the language of our target group yet."* (or we have forgotten it).  

Just yesterday I was asked again, "Why aren't there more women yet?" But actually it has nothing to do with women, it goes for any target group - whether you want to bring students, truck drivers, nurses, actors or pensioners in. They all live in a different bubble of society, with a different language and different specific problems that our new decentralised wonderland could solve.

The problem is, most of them (in the Western world at least) don't have a problem yet. Or they are not aware of it. And the thing with human beings is that they won't be motivated to introduce any change in their life, until they have a problem they want to solve. So all we can do is *listen* to them first and foremost, and if we do spot something that crypto could solve for them, demonstrate or explain it to them in *their* language. 

So in this case, I listened to an artist. I realized her "problem" was censorship and limited visibility of her art. That impacted the way she marketed her business, and that impacted her livelihood. She didn't care about Bitcoin or Blockchain or Decentralisation. All she cared about was freedom from censorship and allowing her art to be seen. So this is what I addressed when I responded to her, which inspired her to give Steemit a shot.
