Our body is an incredible machine. To turn food into energy it goes through a highly complex multi-stage process that includes and requires the help of a species of *tiny* animal (kind of, it's actually an ["organelle"](https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/320875)) called *"mitochondria"*.

There are so many cool things like this in our bodies. We live in a symbiotic relationship with (literally) *trillions* of other species that are not human. We couldn't survive without them.

Only recently has science discovered that we have [*microbiotia*](https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/307998) in our *gut* that help us digest many types of food.

Isn't that fascinating? Did you know that?

Think about it: every time you put food in your mouth and trust that your body will convert it into energy so that you can *do stuff* you an entire, huge, diverse *community of friends* helping you out!

How cool is that?!

This was *supposed* to be a freewrite post on the prompt, *"energy production"* but when I realised I wanted to talk about energy production *in the human body* I realised that I needed to look up some external sources of info to get my definitions right. So... it's a mash up of freewriting and mini-teaching lesson, with a big *dash* of enthusiasm 😁
