<b>Hi Steemians, </b> I would like to present you this blog on one of the technical tools I have worked on, itβs SAP Crystal Reports. I hope this blog information will be interesting to fellow steemitians who are interested in learning new tools and technologies. If you find it interesting or having any suggestions, kindly provide your comments thru replies so that I can include the suggestions in my upcoming series of blogs on Crystal Reports. Please follow, upvote and resteem if you feel it benefits others. In this blog, I would like to give an overview of Crystal Reports, the vendors who produced this to market and different versions. Crystal Reports is a report design tool used to design pixel perfect reports with the options of designing tabular reports with images, charts, grouping data or displaying data in a parent child kind of relation using something called as subreports. Below screenshot shows a simple report designed to display Employee Details using the sample tables provided in Oracle database.  Crystal Reports tool was designed by Cunningham Group, a family run investment vehicle in early 90βs and the same was acquired by a software company called Seagate Software in 1994 and the tool was renamed as Crystal Decisions. Seagate Software produced 9 major versions of Crystal Reports designer with improved options and security in each of those versions. In 2003, another software company Business Objects, which also worked on reporting tool by name Business Objects, acquired the Crystal Decisions to develop much better versions of Crystal Reports viz. Crystal Reports 10, Crystal Reports XI and Crystal Reports 2008. Below is another screenshot with report output with 2 dimensional summaries for data shared above. Here, we are trying to show the Count of Employees and the salary of employees working under different managers along with their Department. This is possible using an option called as Crosstab in Crystal Reports.  Coming back to history of Crystal Reports, SAP purchased Business Objects company in 2007 and thus tools Business Objects and Crystal Reports became the SAP tools. SAP developed more advanced versions of Crystal Reports including the Enterprise version where in the Business Objects, Crystal Reports and other dashboard and query tools bundled together under the version SAP BI 4.X. <b>Conclusion:</b> This is my first effort to write a blog on technical tools.
