<br>Yesterday, in @joanstewart publication [Starting's post Beach Wednesday Contest #19](https://peakd.com/hive-192501/@joanstewart/starting-beach-wednesday-contest-19) inviting to participate in the #BeachWednesday initiative. She invites me to share some of my memories by the sea. So here I am, ready to share some of them.  

I've always been a sea person. I like the mountains but I love the beach. Feeling the sea breeze, the smell of the sea, the sound of the waves, and walking barefoot on the sand have always filled me with energy. 

Since the pandemic started, I haven't gone to the beach again, not even to the closest beaches to Caracas, my city. Which are only an hour away. However today, I'm going to share with you some memories and pictures of one of the beaches in one of the most popular beach holidays destinations in my country, Margarita Island. The island is located in the Caribbean Sea. And I would tell you today about one of its beaches, **Playa El Yaque (El Yaque beach)**.

El Yaque is a beach located in the south of the Island. Our last vacation there was in the summer of 2017.

This beach is a paradise for those who like wind sports. It's considered one of the seven best beaches in the world for its conditions for windsurfing.

On those vacations, we stayed on this beach in one of the hotels that are across the street along the coast. My son took some windsurfing lessons in the mornings during those days.

But the beach also attracts many families, because its waters are a little warmer than those of the beaches located on the north and east coast of the island, and its currents are much less strong. And the beach has little waves.

The afternoons are windier and you can see more people go windsurfing and kitesurfing. Some who are pro on these sports, even venture to the nearby Isla de Coche.

The afternoon I took these photos it looked like the sky was filled with cotton candy, with the clouds covering it almost entirely.

But for me, the best time on the beach is sunset. Although Playa El Yaque for its location in the south of the island is not the best to enjoy the sunsets. The end of the afternoon on the beach always fills me with peace.

El Yaque is one of the best-known beaches on Margarita Island. In the area, there are many beach restaurants and hotels. And it's a nice spot on the island to stay.
