So, I bought some conga drums, for the same reason that anyone buys conga drums: so they can look at them sitting in their basement a year later and ask themselves why they bought conga drums.
However, in my case, being an artist, I decided to make the best of this waste of money, and turn a questionable money investment into a questionable work investment.

At this point I have to apologize for my horrible cell phone camera pictures, which was the best that I could do at the time. 
I promise that the end results, while just as useless, looked amazing: that is, if you needed something to stare at while you sat in a room with all the lights off.

As you can see, there are probably several thousand carefully drilled holes in the once pristine sides of the drum.
After plotting my pattern and then executing it with a drill, I picked up some LED accent strips, red and blue, from an auto parts store, and glued them inside the drum.
Wire it up, lights off, LED's on, and you have, well, at least a good conversation starter!

For the musicians in the room, wondering if the drum was still playable: I honestly am not sure. 
It made drum sounds before, and it made drum sounds after: I am sure drilling all of those holes had to have affected it some, but I just didn't have the ear to know how.
