# **Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge: Legionnaire Alvar** #

Hello Spinterfam! I am back again for this weeks Share Your Battle Weekly Challenge. For this week's  challenge the featured monster is a neutral splinter Legionnaire Alvar. Legionnaire Alvar is one of my go to tank when on certain ruleset which we would discuss later. The good thing about Legionnaire Alvar is that he is a neutral card which means he could fit in any composition you are running in different splinters. For those of you who are new here, I mainly play on Silver League Modern Format so the only thing I would talk about here is mostly on that certain league only. Now let's take a look at Legionnaire Alvar's stats.

Edition - Chaos Legion
Rarity - Legendary
Element - Neutral
Attack - Melee
Abilities - Void Armor (Obtains Giant Killer at level 2, Demoralize at Level 3 and Deathblow at Level 4)

If you take a look at his stats at max silver level (Level 2) which requires 3 bcx to reach that level. His attack is 3 which is ok for a tank. The 4 armor is what makes him shine because if his void armor magic attack would first hit on his armor. The 2 speed is decent for a tank. The 6 health is a ok considering the 8 armor. The Giant Killer is an ok ability to have because there are many tanks on meta that is 10 mana cost and above.

- # **Synergies** #

For summoner, there are a handful of summoners which is good to use if you are running Legionnaire Alvar as your tank. These Summoners are what I think would make Legionnaire Alvar shine.

- Kelya Frendul is good because he gives Legionnaire Alvar 1 armor which would may him extra tanky and 1 speed to make him a little bit survivable.

- Possibilus the Wise give to health to all monster plus the trample ability is also a good ability to have for Legionnaire Alvar. He has low health which is 6, the additional 2 health would be very much appreciated.

- Immortalis gives Void to all your monster which would make Legionnaire Alvar very tanky if faced with magic attackers plus the shatter ability is a nice thing to have.

For Rule set:

**Armored Up** - All Monsters have 2 Armor in addition to their normal Armor stat. (Because of his Void Armor ability additional armor means additional hit to be tanked for him)

**Equalizer** - The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health. (This would make up for one of Legionnaire Alvar's flaw, his Health. If you could somewhat use a monster with high health Legionnaire Alvar would be be veeeeryyy tanky)

Legionnaire Alvar also synergizes with monster with Resurrect ability because resurrected monsters retain their armor meaning Legionnaire Alvar will take a few more hits before dying again. Also pair him with monsters with Protect ability to hive him additional 2 armor. Legionnaire Alvar is also good with the rule set Holy Protection if you manage to pull of the line up I provided earlier, the ones with Legionnaire Alvar, Resurrection and Protect.

- # **Battle** #


The Rule set were:

**Equalizer** - The initial Health of all Monsters is equal to that of the Monster on either team with the highest base Health.

**Explosive Weaponry** - Only Monsters with odd Mana costs may be used in battles.

A 42 mana cap with Fire, Water, Death and, Dragon splinters available to use. My first though when I saw the rule is using water splinter because there is a water monster with Reflection shield there, that would answer the explosive weaponry problem. The Equalizer rule as I said earlier is what prompt me to use Legionnaire Alvar plus water checks all the monsters who synergizes well with Legionnaire Alvar. I Was debating whether to use a Tank heal or a Reflection shield. Good thing I opted with Reflection shield because yes I would sustain my front monster but the 2nd monster would take damage due to the blast which will be coming from Explosive Weaponry rule.

The Line up I used was:

- **Kelya Frendul** - I used Kelya because for the one armor he provides. I am also considering using Possibilus the Wise but the additional 1 speed coming from Kelya makes much of a difference because I predicted the opponent to use Kelya also, I just can't risk of him out speeding my monsters.
- **Legionnaire Alvar** - I used Legionnaire Alvar as my tank because of the equalizer rule.
- **Tide Biter** - Tide Biter serves a block for blast because of his Reflection shield, with reach ability and River Helondale's Inspire ability Tide Biter is just the best choice for this situation.
- **Djinn Oshannus** - I used him because he has high health I used him just in case my opponent use a low health monsters plus the void and Oshannus' speed could come in handy.
- **Deeplurker** - Serves as a high damage dealer with 4 melee attack plus he will benefit with River Helondale's Inspire ability.
- **Venari wavesmith** Gives 2 armor to all my monster.
- **River Helondale** - To resurrect Legionnaire Alvar if he dies and to give additional attack damage to all melee monsters.

- # **Conclusion** #

Legionnaire Alvar is a good tank but needs a lot of support. I think if he has a Shield ability he would be a very very good tank (Looking forward to a summoner who gives Shield ability lol). The Giant Killer is a meh ability for him to have because his main role is to tank so if he is facing a monster with a 9 mana cost or below his second ability is useless. I only suggest using him on mid to high mana cap battles so that Giant Killer would be if use. Overall I think Legionnaire Alvar is a good card to have, the flexibility of him being a neutral card being able to fit in almost every line up. His stats are also good, the only thing I don't feel using is his Giant Killer but other than that everything's fine. I haven't tried using him on low mana cap battles, maybe I would try that too and share it with you if I find it successful.
