He gets out of his car and slams the door shut, completely ignoring the fact that I’m standing right outside my car.

“I’m really glad you decided to call me,” I say, and he starts to get inside his car again.

“Relax. I’m just going to make it really hard for you."

"Yes, I am most certain you will."

He sighs and gets out of his car again.

"You got a problem or something?"

"Only with you. If you’re not going to even look me in the eye during a conversation...”

I look up and sigh.

“I’m sorry. I was just a little...”

“Frustrated…” He finishes my sentence for me.

I start to walk past him and get in my car.

"You know what, don't bother going home. I'm just going to stay here tonight."

"And what are you going to do here?”

He rolls his eyes as we get closer to my car.

“Call my wife,” I respond. He knew that I was married. He’d seen me with my wife at the bank.

"If you don't want to come home with me, then why did you suggest that we go out again?”

"I didn't."

"You sure about that?"

"Yes," I say. Did I really? "Wow, you've been under a lot of stress lately. You are actually accusing ME of asking you out for dinner? This is what you came up with?” I chuckle.

“Would you like to go with me?” he asks. I stop moving and look at him.

“It’s just dinner,” he says. I shake my head.

“I can't. I have plans.”

He laughs.

“What's so funny?”

“You. You just left the bar with me but you’re saying you have plans.”

I hit him in the stomach and he grabs my arm.

He laughs and puts my arm down.

“We’ll go somewhere else if you want,” he says.

"No, we'll go to that restaurant. It's my favorite."

"Yes, it is."

I see the lights of the restaurant at the end of the parking lot. I pull into the back of the lot, and park my car. He parks in the next row.

"So, you got a place to stay or not?" I ask.

"Of course," he says. “I came with friends."

"They could offer you a bed, right?"

"They don't know I'm here. I didn't tell them."

"You wanted to come here?" I ask.

"Yeah. What made you want to come here?"

"I always come here for my favorite dishes."

We get out of the car and walk to the restaurant. I stop in front of the entrance.

"What? What is it?" he says.

"I can't go in. I have on a suit."

He looks at me and shakes his head.

'Just go in," he says. I shake my head.

"But it’s a suit. I'm not wearing any shoes."

"Would you stop being so-"

He pauses.

"You're right," he says. "It is too fancy here...It’ll look bad."

He grabs a napkin from the car and wipes the dirt off his feet. He throws the napkin away and takes my hand. I smile and shake my head. He leads me inside.

"I hope you like this restaurant," he says.

"Oh, I love this place," I say.

“Let me buy you a drink…"

"Are you sure?"

He nods.

I say, "Just a water."

We go sit at a table by the window, and we begin to order our drinks.

"So, you're married?" he asks.

"Yes. Twenty-two years."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

We talk about our lives together. The waiter brings our drinks and we begin to drink.

"I should get going," I say.

"Why? We just got here."

"I..."

I shake my head.

"I have a lot to do tomorrow at work."

"You do?" he asks. I nod.

"I do have a lot of things to do. In fact, I should really get going now."

"What time is it?"

I check my watch.

"This late already?" I say. He nods. "Gosh, I got a lot to do."

He laughs.

"Yeah, you're right. We should get going."

The waiter comes over and we pay the bill. We get back into our cars.
