Preview of The Human Longevity Project - [Interview with Jason Prall]
In this discussion Mike Mutzel talks to Jason Prall, the creator of the upcoming documentary titled The Human Longevity Project.

The documentary is going to be a multi-part video series that explores some of the most long living communities on modern day Earth. It is free to watch as it airs in the following month. So if you're interested in the series, just go to its official page and subscribe for free. I believe it is going to be paid afterwards. 

So, among other things, they also discuss about the diets of these populations, which are all over the place, probably the commonality being that they all eat seasonally and according to their environment. They don't have restricted diets, which is also interesting. And they live to ripe old age in good health. 

Anyway, in this discussion Prall gives a sneak preview of what he found during the making of the documentary.

hm not sure what to make of these life style recommendations. I would say, it's >60% genetics that determine how old we become plus  another 20% coincidences like growing up during a famine (or not?) and in regard of the remaining 10-20% we might be able to actively do something. But at the end of the day, if the difference is 25 years, these remaining 20% are a mere 5 years. Is that really worth it focussing everything on a strict diet and life style?

A lot of people think longetivity and ageing are the same. Ahieving good health and long life are one of Japans most importantly upheld tradition, and this goes all the way to their diet. There is a misconception around us now that people think ageing is a bad thing, hence they use anti ageing drugs, botox and the likes. This is wrong, ageing should be embraced, thanks for this video it is highly educative on this matter, we should learn from them

Wow wow wow, firstly I’m going to subscribe cause I want to live long and I don’t want my life to be shortened just because of what I eat. You see, living long has always cause me to wonder why they live so old in days Past, I mean in ancient days and hardly would one see an old person over the age of 70 this days, over the years I’ve got to realize that diet, things we eat contributes to short life span. Aging is good. Longevity is the mechanism of preserving health. It is a life with less dependency on drugs.
Kirkland, Japan are long living communities.They eat different diet. They eat according to what is obtainable. There were communal aspects where people put money together which serves different purposes as medical. It was the community supporting for a more steadfast individual.

I agree, their secret is probably the local food along while being evolutionary perfectly adapted to the environment. It will take us another 100 generations until we are perfectly adapted to McDonalds food :-)
