Asghar Farhadi is a great Iranian film director and the mastermind behind _Forushande (The Salesman)_ and the Oscar winner _Jodaeiye Nader az Simin (A Separation)_, two of the best international films of recent decades that demonstrate how a great script and excellent direction can come together to make a memorable movie without needing a big budget or special effects.

_**Darbareye Elly (About Elly)**_ tells the story of Ahmad, an Iranian who has lived in Germany for years and returns to his native country on vacation to travel with his closest friends and family to a town on the shores from sea. It's a kind of family trip, parents, brothers, wives, they all go and Sepideh, Ahmad's friend, knowing that he has just divorced, invites Elly, her daughter's school teacher with the idea that something will arise between them two. In principle, the idea is to spend a quiet weekend lulled by the sound of the waves, talking, eating, making bonfires, drinking and sharing anecdotes, but little by little the facts begin to move away from the plans and the film becomes a _thriller_ in which the mystery, suspense and tension begin to grow more and more.

>_**Darbareye Elly (About Elly)**_ cuenta la historia de Ahmad, un iraní que vive en Alemania desde hace años y regresa de vacaciones a su país natal para viajar con sus familiares y amigos más cercanos a una localidad a las orillas del mar. Es una especie de viaje famililar, padres, hermanos, esposas, van todos y Sepideh, amiga de Ahmad, como sabe que él acaba de divorciarse, invita a Elly, la maestra de escuela de su hija con la idea de que surja algo entre ellos dos. En principio la idea es pasar un fin de semana tranquilos arrullados por el sonido de las olas, hablar, comer, hacer fogatas, beber y compartir anécdotas, pero poco a poco los hechos comienzan a alejarse de los planes y la película se vuelve un _thriller_ en el que el misterio, el suspenso y la tentsión comienzan a crecer más y más.

First, the house they were going to occupy for the whole weekend is occupied one night, so they have to stay in a different one. Then we see Elly advise that she cannot stay the whole weekend, that she will only stay one night, to which Sepideh laughs and insists that she stay, but behind Elly's reasons for wanting to come home to the next day, much more hides than we see at the beginning.

The way in which Farhadi decides to start releasing information to us and to give new meaning to scenes from the beginning that we think showed us something normal, everyday, is a genius. Yes, we know that Elly is Sepideh's daughter's teacher, she seems to be kind, homely and very attractive, so the idea of ​​inviting her to share more with Ahmad seems logical, but little by little, questions begin to revolve around her: Who is Elly really? Why can't she stay? Why did she agree to come then? And then when one of the children in the family almost drowned in the sea while in the care of Elly (the most dramatic sequence in the film), and she disappears, giving room for the most important question in the film to arise: where is Elly? Did she return home as she had said? But without saying goodbye? Or did she go into the sea to save the child and couldn't get out? But then why didn't anyone see her go in? Where is the body?

>La forma en cómo Farhadi decide comenzar a soltarnos la información y a darle un nuevo significado a escenas del inicio que pensamos nos mostraban algo normal, cotidiano, es una genialidad. Sí, sabemos que Elly es la maestra de la hija de Sepideh, parece ser amable, hogareña y es muy atractiva, así que la idea de invitarla para que comparta más con Ahmad, parece lógica, pero poco a poco, las dudas comienzan a rondarla, ¿quién es, en realidad, Elly? ¿por qué no puede quedarse? ¿por qué aceptó venir entonces? Y luego, cuando uno de los niños de la familia casi se ahoga en el mar cuando estaba bajo el cuidado de Elly (la secuencia más dramática de la cinta), esta desaparece dando espacio para que surja la pregunta más importante de la cinta: ¿dónde está Elly? ¿volvió a casa como había dicho?, pero ¿sin despedirse? ¿o se metió al mar para salvar al niño y no pudo salir?, pero entonces ¿por qué nadie la vio entrar? ¿dónde está el cuerpo?

And this is how what began as a family film is transformed into a thriller in which the weight and consequences of secrets are analyzed when they come to light, who knows? Who knew before? Why was nothing said before? Why is it said now? What is better, keep hiding the truth or tell it when perhaps it's too late? Without impostures or overly far-fetched situations, Farhadi's films explore the human soul, the psychology of mankind, and the relationships between people. Relatives, marriages, friends, are always the protagonists of stories that are woven about ethical dilemmas, everyday problems, of course framed in a specific society, its customs, beliefs and codes of conduct. It is the fourth film I have seen by the Director and one of my favorites, which is why I will continue reviewing his filmography. Have you seen this movie? What do you think of it? >Y es así como lo que inició como una película familiar se va transformando en un thriller en el que se analiza el peso y las consecuencias de los secretos cuando salen a la luz, ¿quién sabe algo? ¿quién lo sabía de antes? ¿por qué no se dijo nada antes? ¿por qué se dice ahora? ¿qué es mejor, seguir ocultando la verdad y decirla cuando quizás ya es demasiado tarde? Sin imposturas ni situaciones demasiado rebuscadas, las películas de Farhadi exploran el alma humana, la psicología del hombre y las relaciones entre las personas. Familiares, matrimonios, amigos, son siempre los protagonistas de historias que se tejen sobre dilemas éticos, problemas cotidianos, por supuesto enmarcados en una sociedad específica, sus costumbres, creencias y códigos de conducta. Es la cuarta película que veo del Director y una de mis favoritas, razón por la cual seguiré revisando su filmografía. Ustedes, ¿han visto esta película? ¿qué opinan de ella?
