Hello friends who love black and white, I hope you are well.  Today I would like to share with you a small selection of my most important photographic work.  It is a series of images that I have taken of my grandmother, an 87-year-old woman.

> Hola amigos amantes del blanco y negro , espero que se encuentren bien. Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes una pequeña selección de  mi trabajo fotográfico más importante .   Es una serie de imágenes que le he realizado a mi abuela, una anciana de 87 años. 

I started almost from the moment I started taking pictures.  Some school assignments where I studied this beautiful art pushed me to make portraits, at that moment I took advantage and the first practices were done with my grandmother.  Shortly after it became permanent, I could say that I learned to make images with it.

> Comencé casi desde el mismo momento en que empecé a realizar fotografías. Algunas tareas de la escuela dónde estudié este hermoso arte me empujaron a realizar retratos , en ese momento  aproveché y las primeras prácticas fueron realizadas con abuela. Poco tiempo después se convirtió en algo permanente, podría decir que aprendí a hacer imágenes con ella.

How everything in life taking pictures of him was a whole process.  In the beginning I took a long time adjusting the camera values, the famous exposure triangle (ISO, speed, diaphragm aperture) this brought me some problems when I wanted to take a picture of her without her knowing that I was there, having to be Thinking about these technical issues prevented me from being as spontaneous as I would have liked to be.  But as it is well said, everything is part of a process.  First you have to take a few small steps before running.

> Cómo todo en la vida hacerle fotos fué todo un proceso. En el inicio yo me demoraba ajustando los valores de la cámara, el famoso triángulo de exposición ( ISO , velocidad, apertura del diafragma) esto me traía algunos problemas cuando yo quería realizarle una foto sin que ella supiera que yo estaba ahí ,  tener que estar pensando en estos temas técnicos me impedía ser tan espontáneo como me hubiera gustado ser . Pero como bien se dice , todo es parte de un proceso. Primero hay que dar unos pequeños pasos antes de correr.

I will also be very honest, in the beginning she was not very fond of allowing me to take pictures of them, I had to convince her and as we would say here in Cuba, make her fall in love for her to agree.  Little by little, what at first seemed strange and strange became common.  Of course I always respected her privacy.  I am the first to take care of her and I would not let any photograph of me make her feel bad.

> También les seré muy sincero, en los inicios no era ella muy amante de permitir que les realizara fotografías , tuve que convencerla y como diríamos nosotros aquí en Cuba , enamorarla para que accediera . Poco a poco lo que al principio le resultaba raro y extraño ya fué común. Por supuesto siempre respeté su intimidad . Yo soy el primero que la cuido y no dejaría que alguna fotografía mía la hiciera sentir mal . 

Most of the photographs are documentary and there is no direct intervention from me (for better understanding, I never asked him to put himself in one way or another).
 This selection is purely documentary

> La mayoría de las fotografías son documentales y no hay ninguna intervención directa de mi persona ( para que se entienda mejor, nunca le pedía que se pusiera en una u otra forma)  .
Esta selección es puramente documental.

Taking so many photos of my grandmother has helped me to get to know her better, to spend even more time with her than I did before.  To improve in photography, to find my style and my ways of doing everything.

> Hacer tantas fotos a mi abuela me ha ayudado a conocerla mejor, a pasar incluso más tiempo del que pasaba con ella anteriormente. A mejorar en la fotografía , a encontrar mi estilo y mis formas de realizar todo.

During the pandemic on a personal level it was a very difficult period.  The fear of getting sick and thus infecting her was something that kept going through my mind.  Although we were in the same house during much of the peak of the disease, we were apart.  By itself we are very affectionate with each other and not being able to hug her for these reasons was something very strong for me.

> Durante la pandemia a nivel personal fué un periodo muy complicado. El miedo a enfermarme y así contagiarla era algo que no me dejaba de pasar por la mente. Aunque estuvimos en la misma casa durante gran parte de los picos de la enfermedad , estábamos separados. De por sí nosotros somos muy cariñosos el uno con el otro y no poder abrazarla por estás razones fué algo muy fuerte para mí. 

La fotografía una vez más me sirvió de unión . Me permitió estar más cerca de ella y aunque el miedo a enfermar no paraba , usando mascarilla y caretas protectoras realicé algunas imágenes como estas . Esto me permitió conectar con ella de la forma que más amo, que es mediante el amor y el arte.

All these images are designed to be black and white from the outset.  Since removing the color helps me focus attention on the message I want to display.  The lights and shadows, the different ones all from white to black help me convey the idea I want.

> Todas estas imágenes están pensadas para que sean desde un primer momento en blanco y negro. Puesto que eliminar el color me ayuda a centrar la atención en el mensaje que quiero mostrar. Las luces y sombras , los diferentes todos desde el blanco hasta el negro me ayudan a trasmitir la idea que deseo .
