Absolutely love the reputation feature, as it brings us one step closer to a [Decentralized Steemit Marketplace](https://steemit.com/marketplace/@bendjmiller222/buying-and-selling-goods-and-services-on-steemit-the-future-of-a-decentralized-marketplace). I would love to hear your thoughts about it as well @crypt0

I think it is a great way of weeding out bots and it allows people to quickly see if the author is worth checking out.

I think people are worrying too much. Just post and comment and review in a week's time to see if things have changed.

Anything new can instill  some fear ... but in time we can adapt to our new environment and maybe evolve into something better ...or not!

What's the starting reputation score?  25?

I'm happy with the reputation system - I was sad to only be a 6 but was happy to find out each one is 10 times as powerful as the next.  I like that Steemit always seems to get better with these little updates. I remember when I was a facebook user I would get **pissed** with the updates. It always seemed to get worse or less intuitive. 
Steemit always seems to be a pleasant surprise, at least not rocking the boat too much.

i personally think that the reputation system is good at one hand, cos it will filter the bad actors out, i.e irrelevant content, where as ,on the other hand , it is bad; cos it will deprive the newbiees from execising their skills. testing any water s;is very important in any new environment

As a newcomer (just started today), is seems like a good system. Really like this website!

Its a double edge sword as long as the the people with 8+ reputation dont randomly abuse it. I think its a good idea but if I had a negative reputation maybe i would feel differently.

Nervous is right. So being a five, I am hesitant to post a reply to anyone with a higher reputation score since they can affect my reputation and as a result my visibility / rewards. This is from a direct experience yesterday when I felt in alignment with a popular poster and linked to my article that I thought shared their point of view. I upvoted them and discovered later that they had downvoted my comment. I can understand someone seeing a short reply with a link as spam but everyone with this new power - please yield it wisely.

Was wondering what and how this worked.  The first three things that I posted had bots changing their post about every twenty minutes and was wondering how to flag them. I need to keep an eye out for steemit updates. Thanks for sharing.

I think it's Smurf-tastic!  A couple of worries I had that were resolved this morning surrounded new Steemians who didn't understand that they were negatively affecting their reputation before this happened and discovered they were negatively rated. 

But then I saw a comment on another page by @ace108, who woke up to a -5 rating but then, with a little struggle and some posting, got that up to a +5. 

That said to me that this system has a great chance of working, because if your reputation goes down the toilet, you can always repent and change your ways and get back into the steemit flow. 

Basically, no one is banned forever, but you will be identified by the way you conduct yourself round these parts. And with all the reposting and copypastfarianism going on, I think we need to be able to identify these wayward steemians and continue making this greater

it's great but if someone with high rep wants to make your life difficult, it could. We need a way to protect the users from petty attacks. Especially after beta when new people will be at rep 2 3 4 5 and early adopters will be at 6 7 8.

Glad you brought this up @crypt0 Not really sure how I feel about the bots. I feel like they are part of the system, whether we like it or not. I also feel that there are some benevolent as well as malevolent bots. And yet even the good ones are questionable.

Well, i 'm a little bit worried for newbees...non-tech people.  Steem, Steem-dollars, power up, reputation, crypto. I am afraid It is a little bit too much altogether if we want to get to mass adoption.
