Much rather cook a steak over a open fire than in cast iron

How long have you had that cast iron pan? It really makes a difference when cooking meat like steak. Delish post!

If you don't have garlic butter you can add good ol' butter and one glove of garlic. When you're finished you throw it away. 
And let it rest for 5-10 minutes.

Two things I would add:
1.) Never, and I mean NEVER poke your steak with a fork to turn in over. This will damage the meat and the juices will run out. Sure way to make it chewy.
2.) After the steak is perfect and before you serve it, always let the meat sit for 5 minutes minimum. This will allow the juices to redistribute inside the steak and prevent them from leaving the meat asap once you cut the first piece off.

Voila. You have your perfect steak. Enjoy!!

Quality beef and the cast iron pan are must haves. When it comes satisfying the craving for a good steak, my opinion is go for the tenderloin every time. The key to cooking it right is heat, heat, heat. A cast iron pan can get surface of the sun hot and retain that heat, even on an electric burner. The tenderloin must be cut thick, at least 3cm or an inch and a quarter, and can be cut twice as thick if you want(I want).

That sounds like the best way to cook a steak.  I have always bungled it and end p with a leathery piece of meat with great taste.  lol

I will have make it hotter and flip it more often.   Good tips.
