Northwest Arkansas Will Pay You $10,000 in Bitcoin to Move There

Looking to move? Well a nonprofit in [Northwest Arkansas](https://findingnwa.com/incentive/) is offering $10,000 worth of free bitcoin (BTC) to lure newcomers to the area.

No one wants to live in Arkansas so there has been push to spur migration. They have been incentivizing artists, entrepreneurs, and other types of tech talent to move to region since November 2020 with an offer of $10,000 cash and a bike. Now they are trying to create a crypto hub hoping to attract tech workers.

This deal is funded by the Walton Family Foundation aka the family behind Walmart. I believe they are lacking qualified tech employees for their business and this might be one way to get a new talent pool. However, I don't believe is all hype and marketing as the University of Arkansas is there and they are actually leading some academic research on blockchain technologies. There could be some good creating a crypto hub there.

I for one know I could not live in this area and $10,000 in BTC would not get me to move. For tech job $10,000 is nothing if they up that amount it might get some real talent to apply. I think the concept is cool and makes for a good headline.

Reminds me of how my local people here don't believe me when I tell them that Alaska pays an annual dividend to each resident of the state just for living there. 

The largest state in size, has plenty of empty spaces with a tiny population, and need people to work up there. But it's ice-freezing-cold, and above the Arctic circle, there are times of the year where the sun shines 24 hours a day.Its a tough sell to get people to move there.

I saw that ! That is CRAZY but definitely a win for the state even if only 20% of the people coming in for the bounty stay.

Good PR stunt for a cheap price. They will get so much more in state taxes and economic activity. Great idea !
