GREAT RESULTS AND SOME DISAPPOINTMENTS

## INTRODUCTION

The idea behind my personal initiative is quite simple: most users who create quality content but struggle with building engagement will sooner or later give up. And receiving financial rewards (in the form of upvotes) will hardly change anything. 

I strongly believe that by supporting their content and sharing it with my own audience it will not only help them build exposure and their own follower base, but also will give them an impression that someone out there cares about their efforts.

So each weekend I'm sending out memos with one or two links to posts, which I consider worth promoting. I stop whenever someone ask to stop.

With the support coming from all of you, we've already managed to build a very strong community of people sharing similar values and interests. It's not a secret that I'm focusing my efforts on promoting content related to blockchain technology, AI, economy and psychology. 

My work brought also some first disappointments. I have received a few messages/comments coming from those of you who consider our relationship a "one-way street". I was told that each week I am asking them to support some of my friends but in return I'm giving very little. 

I could predict that some people will feel that way. After all, regardless of how much time I invest in engaging and supporting other users work (comments, upvotes) - I will surely miss many. And many will feel that I'm only asking about their support but I don't ever bother to read their publications.

Please allow me to express my apology to anyone who I ever made feel that way. If you, my dear readers, ever felt that way then please let me reassure you that it has never been my intention and allow me to suggest some solution.

Whenever anyone here would publish a post related to any of my mentioned interests, then `please send me memo with a short introduction (2-3 sentences) and link`. Please avoid sending links alone - it does look like a spam and it's easy to ignore.

I will gladly read your publications and show my support. Either by up-voting it, sharing on my telegram channel, commenting or sometimes promoting with larger audience.

Naturally I can't show my support to posts that I never get a chance to read. Memos are in my opinion the most efficient way of sending "notification" to your audience. Just remember to "know your limits". One memo a week should be just fine :)

## MEMOS - SHARE YOUR VIEW

I realized that not all users of Steemit platform do accept using MEMOs as a way of keeping in touch (sending notifications etc) with others. Some people are okey with it, others are very hostile.

Since it is not rocket science to know that we cannot please everyone out there. So I'm mostly concerned about the opinion of those who I'm in close contact with. 
  
`So allow me to ask you, what is your personal opinion about using MEMOs` as a tool allowing us to contact others / promote our content. Please share with me your view on that particular issue.

Your mode of supporting minni s is very unique; you help build a community together and at the same time you help us to know more about block chain technology through the category of post you promoted.
I am currently enjoying it but I will suggest if an auto trail can be used to support members with quality post at a random.
The reason being that many people are having low SP but if we can collate it together and give problem a post per person on a weekly basis so as to cover the multitude and with greater value.
But to me sending memos is good and the fastest for now.

Brother @crypto.piotr I always like your memo with post links as it notify me. I like the way you send with detailed description along with link. For me the amount you send doesn't matter but you don't send like 0.001 which usually spam or bot send. You send different amounts and i check it at soonest possible.

I'm trying to send more than minimum. But at the same time it's still a bit costly. Every week I use few steem on that purpose so sending 0.003 per memo is the best I can usually do :) Sometimes I feel like stingy bugger haha

hi @crypto.piort if in my opinion, if I personally do not have a problem to send Memo, and of course with the memo to promote the post that gave the memo, it would be nice if we give comments and vote to everyone who is given a memo, sometimes we too like to expect reciprocity from the big whales

Do not make this offer to many, keep it for the few who you feel deserve to be promoted. Just because names are on a follow list, it does not mean they deserve to be helped - they must earn it by making posts you will feel proud to introduce to friends.

For instance, having my posts seen by hundreds does not excite me. Having my post read by more than one person - that IS exciting.

Thank you for your kind and wise suggestion. I wish I would get to know you earlier. I had to learn few things very hard way.

I realized it lately. That most people value traffic but they became overwhelmed if there is to many comments. So I decided to only use small amount of "my traffic" to promote one post. To the point of 10-30 comments.

Absolutely. Anyone can send me memo and I will read it and perhaps upvote if I will find interesting.

But I'm only promoting content of those who has been engaging with me and others for at least some time. And also if I promote someones content and he will not engage back with those who wrote comments, then I will give up on such a person.

It's still a learning process for me and your comment has been very valuable. Thank you.

The last one promoting a contest for a company which is offering about 70 steem in prizes to promote them as the largest cleaning company in Singapore is not like you. The truth is that I strongly believe that what Steemit needs is more businesses trying to use it for their advantage. I may be wrong, but in my opinion helping users like @culgin while they are just trying their new business approach can benefit Steemit platform. We need more successful people here. That was my main reason why I decided to help him in the first place.

As I mentioned your messages are generally promoting great things and ask important questions. Sometimes when your dear friends ask you to promote something you have to say no. This is the first time I looked at the link and was really disappointed. I don't live in Singapore, I don't think the largest cleaning company there needs our help and it's not relevant to 99% of the internet. Also I'm sure they can afford more, this low amount of prizes is really selling steem short. You can do better!

We are living in a crisis where Big Tech is determined to control and censor us (now they are also thinking of using technology to block all urls they do not favour. I want nothing to do with any of them and any poster here who gives me a link to any of them...never sees me again, as I take it tht they are indicating that they want to be an elite and side with the globalists against all of mankind.

I hope those who are working on extending "Community Internet" are doing well, so that we have our own network, where we can block out all those wannabee world dictators.

Sending memos is an amazing way to be a great engagement helping others.

It is just a decision for ourselves, keep with bad memories or just ignore them.. Thatยดs it ...!!! 

You are here just helping and not asking for something else, 

Also you use your own resources credit to send memos, small transfer but help a lot to grow the SP, just for recommend interesting topics ...

Iยดm pretty sure that sending 1 or 2 memos a week or a month is not a SPAM..

Many people say that a memo including a interesting topic is a spam, but nobody say anything about bot, and everyone received botยดs memos everyday and nobody stop them...

So, Memos are a great method ... And Iยดm sure that each memo you send, you always ask at the final of them this: If you donยดt want to receive them or like them just ask me for STOP...

That's the thing. I'm part of community and many eyes are on me. So the truth is that "nobody canยดt tell you anything" is not a good approach.

It's actually very scary. People are okey with bots and AI and other shit. Because they feel powerless against them. But at the same time they will target other people, only because THEY CAN.

I have told you before @crypto.piotr - send me money anytime you want to. The more the better, and once an hour if you can do it. I actively seek wallet spam and follow accounts who send it when I see them, just so they will send it to me too. 

It's one of my minnowtips. When people are new here it is hard to get anything. I tell them to look in my wallet and follow anyone sending small amounts. The day I tell someone not to send me money is not coming in this lifetime.

I always go to the post, because I actively engage anywhere I can and particularly if there is a bounty I will comment. As you know, I comment even when I do not care about the topic and in some cases, I have learned valuable info. 

It is rare that I would not comment. I will almost never upvote, since my power is already claimed for my normal course of events.

I never thought of the one-way street idea. I don't really agree with that, since so many things are one way here. I am too busy to worry about every little vote that comes in randomly. But I have definitely made money by knowing you - thank you very much for that.

Just be aware that you are the "wallet spam guy" now and if that's ok with you, then so what about jerks? I think most people would just tell you once, and that is the end of it, but those particular people would probably not be on your side no matter what you do. 

I'm sure you have a list of these people. I would check 10% and see if you feel like you are pushing away "important people" that you might be better off connected with. That would be an interesting exercise.

And finally, how is this strategy really working? Are you getting the result you want for the other people you promote? If yes, keep doing it. If no, or not sure, then you have more to think about.

Very true. At the same time I care about opinion coming from people I engage with. And being transparent seem to be the best way of receiving their understanding and support. Right?

It's still a learning process. Lately I promoted post by @neavvy and he reached over 400 comments which turned out to be huge burden for the author. So I need to learn some lesson from it and promote posts "less" than I did so far.

Wow! Maybe take a critical eye to that response and drop 10-20% of people who may be just agreeing to add a comment or who are not helpful to the post. Keep your list at people who give "the best" comments so you do not waste money.

I actually just tagged you in my most recent post, but not for promo purposes. I'm looking at minnow tips again.

Thanks for bringing this one. My view on MEMOS is dual. What you say makes all sense and I agree to most of it.

On another plane, memo is a field for customisation. It means for me...

- API communicable 
- Data Encryption field (already done)
- Data compression buffer
- Semaphores alike field (to be used for complex executions)

And this is probably already discussed somewhere...

That much easy.

You are like a living promo service but there is nothing problem with it. 

Maybe i will be more happy if the posts are from newbees so we can revard the new content creators instead of those who spend a lot for selfpromotingand earning quiet good from that. 

But this is just my personal opinion.

I don't see any problem with the memos. Sometimes I have time to click and read and vote, sometimes I don't . I always have to option of noticing them or ignoring them.
I praise your concern for helping some content creators to get noticed, which except for ocassional resteeming, very few people do anything about.

I have known you for some time, enough to be sure that your path is not one way.

You are very reciprocal with the people to whom you request support.

Being aware of a base of more than 3.5K followers is not an easy task.
You would have to dedicate the 24 hours of all days of your life to keep them all happy (hahaha ... maybe I exaggerated a bit).

The truth is that if all your followers can receive at least one comment + upvote a week, this would be an admirable task.

So, why cling and even delegate feelings to a virtual space that is not even yours? Has no sense.

Luckily only small part of it is active. I know (by username) perhaps 200-250 people and my memory is already full. I would never manage with 3.5k active followers haha :)

It's only effective because I'm also giving back something in return. If I send 1k memos to people who do not not me - I will receive hardly 2-3 comments. I tested it already. At the same time sending 10 memos to people who likes you can give you better results.

just ignore people like them and send me email with username of anyone who doesn't like memos

I'm not sure where i should send you a message because i can't respond to Memo's.

I don't find memos a useful way to communicate. It is a one way communication.

So I'm now forced to respond at one of your posts.

Pls send me information on Discord that is my preferred method. 

You can DM me. I can at least click on the links. 

I have to go to these said Memo's, and try to memorize these links or look them up, I just don't have that kind of time in a day. 

Maybe everyone else has figured out a way to go to your links instantly, but i haven't.

I'm also not fond of being sent money for no reason. Even if it's  negligible. For me it's a matter of principle, purpose and intent. 

I find engaging in my posts more of a support for me than sending money to my wallet without ever visiting any of my posts or knowing what I stand for. 

But the reason you are sending it is to ask me to do something for you.

I believe in communities and supporting communities. Just highlight them for me. Let me decide if I resonate and wish to participate, and you don't have to pay me in pennies for it either.

Indeed it's not the most useful way to communicate, but it's absolutely the only efficient way of sending notifications to your followers. Otherwise chance that your own loyal supporters will even know about your new publication is close to zero. Unfortunatelly.

I do not believe it to be spam since it isnt asking for money for getting upvotes and it shouldnt be considered abuse as it is and will be a marketing/advertising tool much better then mass mentions in a post or comments you can just send a memo with link to a post a person might be interested in reading which you do and i read all of the content you send to me 90% of the time

I've been very busy, that's why i couldn't answer right away to your requests. 

Great blog and great points of view regarding steemit.

From the beginning i can comment something shortly on this line: 

"The idea behind my personal initiative is quite simple: most users who create quality content but struggle with building engagement will sooner or later give up. And receiving financial rewards (in the form of upvotes) will hardly change anything. "

This issue with receiving engagements from people inside steemit platform, i could see it right away a problematic thing, expecially in the case of Art/Music :-) 

People rather would go and upvote some art form or music video on which might be possible to exist lots of "?" marks ...

Of course, people would start to lose their interest in this so called new blockchain, when they will see that almost the same people, mainly, with ignorance for Art/Music/Good blogs content in our scenario here on steemit and they will stop interracting. 

I think the new blockchain format will be more and more scanned based through AI and through this procedure, those who even if they are composing/creating amazing contents, will be filtered, and their creations won't be visible, exactly, because they're not 100 % of their time... active inside the platform ... in our case ... steemit platform :-) 

As i've always mentioned, you cannot restrict an artist (and this is a very important point of view, directly, from me, in quality of an artist) forcing him, like in the case of dtube, for example, to pst each day or week, new and new videos, just because there's a time-frame of remuneration ... this won't be possible. 

A composition takes time,  it doesn't just go out after its creation and exists for 7 days, and after that ... that's it ... It will last FOREVER :-) 

So does, or it should be a system of upvoting/remunerate/mining the so called, tokens, coins that would be very vital for an artist, to be remunerated for his artistic creation, mainly in a new world that grows day by day out there ... right? 

Maybe it's to contemporary/futuristic thinking, but i do believe that an infinite time-frame for remunerations of an artist for their creations, would be helpful, and the most important, would stimulate their creativity much further to be engage in this artistsic/blogging universe of creativity.

When people will start to undestand much more the concept of altruism, and will follow each-other ( i mean to follow real bloggers/creators, not bots) and the transparency, or what we would like to believe it means, transparency in a creative future, then, i think people and the most important the platforms, should have a way of visibility much greater and the remuneration system, not to be restricted. 

After that, it can be implemented, maybe, politics, like, whoever is more than 15 days active per month, to receive extra royalties, for their creative contents, more visibility to the community, not to be forced,as an artist to use all kind of bots, to increase your steem-power, in our case here on steemit. 

I know this might be a hiting point head in head, 'cause like it goes nowadays, those who just have a silly song, mainly, just noizy, and they use some bots for the upvotes, or they've convinced some impressive amount of followers ( which most of the time don't know what's a true artistic creation and what's a synthetic/plastic noizy one, without substance, will follow those, so called, "artists") 

So, as a last phrase in Time, i think, either Steemit, Dtube, will start to take out their time-frame remuneration system on the artistic contents and they will offer at least a way like Musicoin, Bit Tube does, or people definitely will lose their interest in creating on and on, receiving just small amounts as return for their creativity.

What do you mean? Would you mind sharing with me? More "scanned based through AI"?

I would like to have the option of sending memos to notes or like a Steemit email. For me it is never an annoyance because I firmly believe the answer lies in managerial solutions. But then I am from NYC metro and as long as I'm afforded the tools, juggling and responding over an InfoWire is part of daily life.

I have played around with stuff like this years ago:

For me, a Steemit email-or-sticky-board that I can glimpse in a matter of seconds, is more important than negligible upvotes.

Really, any development issue has got to have a solution in minizing characters. Heck, even a limit of 15 characters can do wonders for leveraging the networking power that we have here on a blockchain-based-blogging-network. 

Scrolling through the "Claims Reward Histroy" is such a downer for my inner-inner-city-child. Would rather just have regular email contact or maybe begin every message memo with a bunch of *********************

I've been rolling around the idea of adapting memos into basically an instant messaging system in the Steem application frontend I'm working on. Basically you whilelist some user(s), then the whole transfer bit is put behind the scenes. From the front it would look just like an instant messenger, complete with notifications, encryption and so forth.

At least that's how it would work in my head. I'm having quite a bit of trouble with signing transactions right now, but once I get that done things will really start moving.

I understand that you're not happy with receiving memo from me every week? In that case obviously I will stop bothering you. I'm already spending 5-10 steem every week trying to promote others people content (memos and sometimes small steem bounties) and it comes from my own pocket.

thank you for your post. In my opinion your Memos are more than welcome. Even if people don't like it, they just have it in their wallet, which they do not have to look at all the time. 

I think you are one of the great examples of a Steemian, who is engaged more than most people out there. It is natural that you cannot comment on each comment you receive. Do not think about that to much :)

In particular, I do not check my purse every day. I will try to make it habit. For me it is easier to read the comments in the publications and at least once a week I check the blog of my friends (among which I tell you).

But Venezuelans, we have severe difficulties with the Internet that difficult communications. The difficulties vary according to the sector, but in general they affect us all.

I value the work you do, your effort to strengthen the community, especially the one formed by Venezuelans and I know that you have the esteem and gratitude of many of us.

Until now, I have not sent you any comments about my publications, because I do not usually publish about technology or about cryptocurrencies.

I'm not bothered by the memos. The same people that will bitch about this being spam are the same ones that still haven't grasped the "scroll on" act of moving on and not feeling triggered by posts, opinions, memos, etc. 

Plus as you've said how difficult is it to just reply back "stop".  If someone asked to be removed and still receives unwanted memos then it's an issue. 

I don't care to see plenty of what's available on steem so what do I do?  I scroll on,  it's simple. I wish people could figure this very fundamental approach to netiquette..

Ps. I learned not to send memos to people with large SP if they do not know you. Instead of hearing "stop" you can get downvoted. Awful.

I have no objection. the irritation other find I do not. You send me micro Steem. It all adds up i my mind, I wish ore would send a message to my wallet.

Good you mention this issue, somehow it feels as if people always have something to complain :(

Anyway: I am completely fine, even happy, with your memo's! Not only yours, but also from everyone who likes to share his/her content with me. As soon as I am able too I visit, comment, share, etc.

I agree with you it is very easy to get lost at steem. There are so many posts and less time (and SP) if it comes to it to visit everyone I follow, so again this is a great help and reminder for me.

I am still learning, have hardly time to figure out something new or read new posts (my connection is not very willing either).
Also if it comes to writing what I like it is hard if you want to survive overhere (then its better to join a contest with everything you post).

I hope that those who complain keep in mind they are also not able to visit, read and comment their followers daily. No one can.
I wish my internet would be a bit better so I had more time left to find great posts to share. If we all would do so with 1-3 posts a week we could help many.

Just one question: how do you send a memo? Is that possible with partiko?
