Always Hunting For Staking Opportunities

I am sure I am not alone as many of us are constantly hunting for decent staking APR's in decent projects. The crypto project has to have a genuine use case so there are not that many opportunities out there.

Over the last few days I noticed some tweets highlighting Chainlink about to open up staking opportunities. This is not a protocol I have paid much attention to but have seen it talked about highly. Unless you research the project the risk is on you as you can only trust yourself and not someone else's judgement.

From the little I have researched so far LINK has a genuine use case as the Chainlink Blockchain is firstly and most importantly decentralised. The blockchain uses a network of oracles that runs smart contracts for data from off chain to on chain. This is on the Ethereum network which we know is massive so I do see a real use case.

Staking is due to go live on December the 6th for node operators and then opening up for others on the 8th December. There is a limit being 7K LINK as the max with a pool cap of 25 million. The expected APR is a disappointing 4.5-5% which is not fantastic.

One tends to compare what APR our other investments are making ,but there is more to this than just that. Having a portfolio of various crypto projects with real use cases as some will perform better than others price wise. I have some LINK and hoping the price drops some more to increase my stake.

I do think you have to think differently when staking as earning 5% on a $7.19 (current price) price is way different if we look at LINK's ATH of $52.70 (May 10th 2021). This is the equivalent of earning 7 x more or a 35% APR on todays price and who knows how high this can go when crypto adoption happens.

This week my COTI stake in the COTI Treasury has a low APR having dropped down to a low of 7.94% having been at over 20% a month ago. This is fine as long as you are earning and growing your bags as every day is another day to earn more. The aim in 5 years time is to have multiple income streams earning a monthly income and this is not for now or next year.

Staking is great as you passively grow your assets with minimal work. I have added the maturing due dates in a follow-up excel as you still need to take action once the staking period ends.
