i can't find it now but i think the ball first hit man city player in the hand (it was unintentional for sure) and new rule saies hand ball that leads to a goal (or goal scoring opportunity) is hand ball no matter is it intentional or not. But nevertheless VAR, especially in Premier league is really bad.

There were some horrible calls in the football game last night.  It was clear that the officials wanted one team to win over another.  Like you said, with all of the technology involved it is amazing that this sort of thing continues to happen.  Across all sports, not just one in particular!

This happens in American football as well.

The difference is, the coaches have to strategically challenge the calls as they cost time outs. It's really lame in the sense that even if you know the refs made mistakes, it might not be worth it for you "prove them wrong".

In short, bad calls cost games.

They said it wasn't a deliberate hand ball which is pure bullshit as that has nothing to do with it. Hand was out, ball hit it, end of story.

I kept asking myself if i ever be in the position of officiating a match like this. To be candid, it  was purely a handball and  should  be placed on penalty. But, since the officiating was bad, they have to let it go and plan for better  days.

It was really annoying. It's logical to say refree is a human and they may do wrong calls.

Then why don't they use VAR in an efficient way. Technology is there without any prior result

I feel a bit for City because they had a goal ruled out earlier in the season against Spurs for a not too dissimilar incident. That being said the golden rule that any schoolboy is taught the first time he walks onto the pitch is play to the whistle and when that handball appeal went up half the City team stood still allowing Liverpool to break up the other end and score

With the many controversies that VAR itself is bringing into the game, I have a feeling that it might be ruled out if the game pretty soon cos it's spoiling the fun and the vibes of the game. Imagine Van Dijk could not celebrate that Fabinho goal because he was expecting  VAR to nullify it. VAR is creating a mess of the game.
