The English premiership hit half way yesterday with all the teams having played everyone once .Liverpool have one more game to complete because of rescheduling playing in the World Club Cup which they won last week. Unfortunately we are no wiser now than a few months ago who are going to join Liverpool in the top 4 as the teams around them have been inconsistent.

The most vulnerable being Chelsea that wouldn't hold any supporter with any confidence from their latest run of results. Leicester and Manchester City I would comfortably say are far enough ahead now to almost pencil them in for a top 4 finish. The last spot though could go to one of a possible 4 teams and that would include Tottenham, Manchester United and Sheffield United of all teams as they deserve to be there from what they have achieved so far.

Out of all the teams though vying for that spot I would stick my head out now and say Chelsea or Tottenham. United are just not consistent enough and they have no clue playing against the bottom clubs. I honestly cannot see Liverpool or City slipping up against them in the second half of the season as their is some payback to be dished out.

The transfer window will be very interesting to see as teams do need to add one or two players to add to their existing squads. Tottenham, Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea will be fairly active as they are the ones who need to get back to the top 4. I say Everton as they have a new manager who will expect Champions League Football as part of his contract agreements. Maybe not this season, but they should and need to start climbing the table to rescue their disastrous start.United will most likely buy one or two, but will they also lose some players as Pogba has been more of a disappointment than a success on his return to the club.


Liverpool haven't lost a game as yet and looking at the points on the table with 13 points clear they can afford to lose 4 out of the 20 games and still win or 12 draws. That isn't going to happen with the positive way they play and every game needs to be ticked off one at  a time. The title is for Liverpool to lose now as they have created the gap and just need to manage it from here on in.

If Liverpool carry on in the same way they have been doing then they should be crowned Champions with a month or so to spare before the season ends. Their crucial games are going to be against the teams that are closest to them so beating everyone in the top 6 or 7 will guarantee them the title. Those games become 6 point swings and with the mid table starting at 7th or 8th down to 16th there are many teams cofortable with where they are currently sitting which should help them.  

Leicester who are in second spot were hammered by Liverpool last night and were ruthlessly put away. The team under Klopp seem to be improving and with one or two new faces arriving things should become a little easier. Leicester and City cannot afford this the next time around they play as otherwise they can kiss the title away right now.

What is against these teams is their involvement in the Champions League as it takes the eye off the prize plus the extra games offer more chances for injuries to key players. Liverpool are not home and dry just yet as losing a few key players like Mane and  Salah would make the run in very interesting.
