**I am ahead of my age group as I represent a light blue block and that is rather comforting to know.**



I was reading a report on Crypto from the BIS or known as Business Institute Services. I ended up skimming through the 28 page article as most of it was obvious and information we all tend to know. They reported that 81% of investors in Crypto had lost money and that the majority of investors were male under 35 as they were the "risk seeking" segment.

The risk like in any investments is when you don't do your homework and understand what you are getting yourself involved with. If you buy into crypto at the wrong time during the cycle the chances are you will lose money if you have to sell. This is what we know as retail investors and always end up carrying the can when the others sell their bags to the ignorant newcomers. You only lose if you sell is also true so the ones that hold for long periods tend to come out unscathed.

The male 35 and under risk seeking segment would include the millennials who I would bracket many in the Dodge and Shiba sector. I have no idea what this paper is trying to state or prove as I found nothing new that anyone educated in crypto already knows. The problem I foresee is that there are too many investors who have not taken the time to learn and these are the ones who are constantly being burned through their own ignorance. 

There is risk everywhere in life and it is up to you to educate yourself to the point that you can survive on your own. The same applies to crypto as when the markets crash it is everyone for themselves and the sheep who have been following others react too late and are clueless.

The reality is if any new user first started out on a place like Hive and took their time getting involved within the various communities they would be shielded from outside influences and learn what crypto is. I never looked outside of Hive for over 3 years as there was no need to get involved in other crypto plus the knowledge was not quite there. Only in the last year and a bit have I formulated a plan to invest in other crypto projects outside the Hive eco system and there is little to no risk as the homework and understanding has been done. As a percentage the majority on Hive would fall into the top 19% of crypto investors as we are winning everyday earning Hive with no risk.

I can recall a group of friends who started up a Whatsapp group called the Crypto Crack Squad back in 2018 and what they knew was dangerous. The info they used came from social media and they got rekt along the way. Quite funny as they are the perfect example of what retail investors are. That group is no longer and I still have an invite to that group on my phone. I don't like shilling crypto projects and will only highlight what I am involved with only if I have done my homework and that is where the Hive community should be as we have responsibilities to look after each other. 


Crypto is seen as a new technology with high risk and I don't see the risk as long as you have armed yourself with the right information. I do think when the markets have less volatility and mature then the losses by the investors will decrease and these stats will have no bearing on the future.
