This morning I thought it would be an interesting exercise to see how much COTI I have earned via the APR rewards over the last 2 years. I have never done this before and just farm the rewards not knowing exactly how much of a percentage they are adding overall. There are a lot of transactions being 579 covering the 4 different stakes I currently have, but that is also slightly misleading because for every reward claim it could involve up to 5 transactions.

I didn't realise until I went right back to the first day (29th March 2022) I was in the Treasury how little COTI I really had. On that day I staked 382 COTI which was all I had and I was hoping to achieve a 15K COTI staking goal.

When the COTI treasury first opened up the APR was a lot higher than it was today and decreased over time as more people started staking. Back then there was only 4 pools on offer with varying APR's and now we have 5 with the top pool offering 8 x which is serious high risk. I am not into risk and have remained in the 1 x no risk pool since day one and have no regrets. The liquidations that have happened helped boost the APR and are shared amongst those staked. 

The first 12 months was more about accumulation and building the stake trying to hit the initial target as soon as possible. After calculating all the rewards they totaled 1790 which doesn't sound like much but then again I was growing from a a small stake that would take months to really reflect the increase in rewards. Compounding is a great tool, but you not only need time but also a sizeable stake to notice the difference. Still this is roughly 150 COTI per month earned over the first 12 months.

The second year is far more revealing because by the 10th April 2023 I had 62 100 COTI locked up for the GCOTI airdrop which offered a higher APR if you selected 365 days as a locking period which I obviously did. So far because there is still roughly 3 weeks left for the 3 pools to be fully unlocked the entire COTI stake has earned in the region of 11 700 COTI which by the time I am finished will be an average of 1k COTI per month.

The stake has nearly doubled since the end of the first year so over the two years of staking COTI I am averaging at 5K COTI per month from purchasing and rewards. I expect this number to start tailing off shortly due to the sudden increase in prices and why the rewards being earned are even more important as that is now the main growth besides dollar value.

Within the next few weeks the next staking period will become clearer in order to receive the next airdrop of COTI V2. There are no time related lock in periods besides the pools which have a maximum 3 month time period which you can extend at your own discretion.

Looking back at the growth that happened during the Bear market compared to now it is no wonder I enjoy this period so much because the growth that takes place is where the dollar values come from when you finally sell.
