**Aston Martin Vantage safety car and DBX medical car.**


The 2021 season will see Aston Martin join Mercedes in providing the safety and medical cars. Up till now it has been on Mercedes to help, but this is a good move for all concerned. It looks from all accounts the two different brands will be alternated between races. The truth is there is no perfect medical car that can get to the scene of an accident any quicker. I am hoping that both sets of cars will be deployed and used for different parts of the circuit as it is seriously needed.

The new look Mercedes safety and medical cars for the Formula One 2021 season have been unveiled and there is something different this season. The obvious difference is the color, but the sponsorship is the big change. This makes sense after we have seen how often the safety car is deployed these days and crowdstrike saw an opportunity.

Crowdstrike is a cyber security company that works closely with Mercedes as they are a minor sponsor with the Mercedes Formula One team. I say minor as I have never noticed their name on the car before.

What they need is a high performance sports car like the AMG One but the problem is packing in all of the equipment they need in case of an emergency. I do think that they need to consider having another team positioned somewhere at the halfway point as time is critical when help is needed.

If you haven't seen this animation of the accident it is well worth viewing. We all thought that the safety precautions had taken fire out of the hazards but this was clearly not the case and showed there is still work to be done. Risks are always going to be present in this sport as speed and safety are not words one would put together.  

Last season we saw how close Romain Grosjean came to being burnt alive and that was close to the starting line yet took the rescue teams just on 20 seconds to arrive at the scene. This needs to be thought out better and being proactive rather than reactive should be the case here. The FIA has normally changed things once something has happened and this in my opinion needs to be thinking ahead of what might be. What if the crash happened on the far side of the track?
